Share: Marcus Trufant RENTON — The season is over for the Seahawks’ longest-tenured player. Cornerback Marcus Trufant was placed on injured reserve on Monday, ending the veteran’s season. Trufant missed the Seahawks’ Week 5 win over New York with a bruised sacrum, an injury from which Trufant apparently was unable to recover. The team signed defensive tackle Jason Shirley to fill Trufant’s spot on the 53-man roster. Trufant is in his ninth season with the Seahawks and had been enjoying somewhat of a bounceback season after struggling amid injury last year. But he discovered the back injury during practice the week of the Giants game and wound up sitting out, the Seahawks terming the injury “lower back spasms” and listing him as questionable on that week’s injury report. Coach Pete Carroll said Trufant couldn’t even bend over to tie his shoes the day of the game. Walter Thurmond will likely be Trufant’s replacement in the starting lineup.
