According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter (Insider), Seahawks QB Matt Flynn‘s market value “isn’t as high as many people think.“ Schefter adds that although many believed that he would be somewhat of a hot commodity on the open market, he found very limited interest and only met with the Dolphins and Seahawks. Flynn, 27, wound up signing a three-year, $19.5 million contract with Seattle. While it seems like a reasonable contract, it’s actually very modest for a quarterback who negotiated it as an unrestricted free agent. He’s under contract for $5.25 million next season, which is admittedly quite high for a backup quarterback, and Russell Wilson‘s emergence leaves little chance of him taking over as the team’s starter. It makes sense that Seattle would shop him around the league during the offseason, as the upcoming draft offers very little in terms of quarterback potential, or at least that’s how it looks right now.
