This time, there was no dramatic ending, no questions left unanswered. Instead, the Seahawks simply dominated from start to finish as they blew out the Falcons 33-10 Sunday at the Georgia Dome and retrieved a small measure of revenge for Atlanta’s divisional playoff win here last January. The Seahawks used a big-play offense to score 20 points in the second quarter — their most in any quarter this season — and cruised from there, improving to 9-1 on the season and getting their 14th win in 15 regular season games dating to last Nov. 25. Seattle had 316 yards in the first half, including three pass plays of 30 yards or longer and one run of 37 yards, in scoring 17 points in the final 5:33 of the second quarter to grab an insurmountable lead. Russell Wilson finished 19 of 26 for 287 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions while Marshawn Lynch had a season-high 145 yards on 24 carries, and Steven Hauschka kicked four field goals to tie a season high. The blowout was in stark contrast to the last two weeks when Seattle had to rally or hold on late to beat St. Louis and Tampa Bay teams that were heavy underdogs. Sunday, Seattle was in control from the start, holding the Falcons to just five first downs and 99 yards in the first half and a 490-226 edge in yards for the game. Two Hauschka field goals gave Seattle a 6-3 lead midway through the second quarter when its offense, which moved the ball at ease all day, kicked into high gear. First, Wilson hit Jermaine Kearse with a 43-yard-pass on play in which Wilson first handed the ball off to Marshawn Lynch, who then latereled back to Wilson, who then threw it deep. That made it 13-3 with 5:33 to play in the second quarter. After an Atlanta punt, Seattle drove for 49 yards for another Hauschka field goal to make it 16-3 with 1:52 left. Then after holding the Falcons, Seattle got the ball at its own 40 with 1:03 left, thanks to a 32-yard punt return by Golden Tate.
