Seahawks: Transform and avenge
Seahawks and playoffs sound very pleasant together, like Richard Sherman and interceptions. A win to finish the regular season really makes it all feel right. A win to avenge a close loss to the Rams in St. Louis earlier this season was important. The idea that a team like the Rams could show a fatal flaw in the Seahawks planning or execution could have spoiled things on the way to Wild Card weekend. The Seahawks, in an equally close and low scoring game, transformed, with Russell Wilson and Marshawn Lynch leading the offense. Wilson, ended the day with a QB passer rating of 136.3. This week’s success had less to do with a high volume of touchdown passes. It came down to excellent efficiency. With only nineteen pass attempts, the man some call DangeRussell, passed for two-hundred fifty yards, completing (a hair shy of) seventy-nine percent of his throws. His lone TD pass, which tied him with Peyton Manning for most TD passes in a season by a rookie, was a ten yard toss to Michael Robinson. Marshawn Lynch rushed for another hundred yards. Golden Tate caught three passes averaging thirty-five yards per catch.
What’s the new schedule this week?
Seahawks are playoff-bound.
The Seahawks will now play the Washington Redskins in D.C. next Sunday at 4:30PM ET. That slot’s not as bad as the 1PM slot the Colts and Ravens occupy that same day. However, it’s likely not as bad for those two teams due to the proximity between Indianapolis and Baltimore. The Seahawks will start their game at the Seattle equivalent of 1:30PM PT. (insert link to circadian rhythm post) How ironic that the Vikings and Packers play in the most “prime time” slot of the weekend. Both teams lost to the Seahawks this season. I understand the schedule is based on seedings.
