TEAMS: Seattle Seahawks, Cincinnati Bengals, Philadelphia Eagles, Utah State Aggies
The consensus was the Seattle Seahawks came into the 2012 NFL draft needing a pass rusher, a linebacker, a backup running back, some offensive line depth, and a split end.
Pete Carroll and John Schneider nearly pulled it off.
We suffered for five long years watching Tim Ruskell make picks.

In these 2 I trust
Isn’t it nice to not have to see Ruskell after the first round talking about how great Aaron Curry, Chris Spencer, Lawrence Jackson, and Kelly Jennings are?
I don’t want to meet the next Seattle Seahawks BUST do you?
This is the guy that brought us Jeb Huckeba, Courtney Taylor, Darryl Tapp, Baraka Atkins and Owen Schmitt with mid-round picks.
I’m not going to hunt for any more names that bring up BAD memories.
I do know there are the Brandon Mebane‘s and Max Unger‘s also on the team but seriously folks, this guy wasted 5 years of great college talent.
I’m a seriously happy camper with Pete and John running the good-ship-Seahawk, and I have no doubt 75% of this draft class will be names you know to come and love. That’s their track record in my opinion.
We’re in good hands.
Here’s the 2012 Draft Class.- Round 1. Pick 15 – Bruce Irvin, DE, West Virginia (Defensive end, and pass rush specialist. Check.)
- Round 2. Pick 47 – Bobby Wagner, ILB, Utah State (Inside linebacker, can and will challenge for opening day starting MIKE. Check)
- Round 3. Pick 75 – Russell Wilson, QB, Wisconsin (Jon Gruden who knows a thing or two about QB’s in the NFL loves him. Check for QB depth)
- Round 4. Pick 106 – Robert Turbin, RB, Utah State (Beastmode meet The Hulk. Ya. I’d say that’s a check! Have you seen Turbin’s arms? Double check.)
- Round 4. Pick 114 – Jaye Howard, DT, Florida (D-Line depth is never a bad thing. Check)
- Round 5. Pick 154 – Korey Toomer, OLB, Idaho (More speed, possible special teams standout in the future, situational 2nd string Sam or Will)
- Round 6. Pick 172 – Jeremy Lane, CB, Northwestern State (I’m calling this kid “Lanesanity” You should too! He’ll challenge for playing time. Check)
- Round 6. Pick 181 – Winston Guy, SS, Kentucky (Atari Bigby’s replacement, Kam’s understudy. The HIGH value John Schneider 6th round pick. Check)
- Round 7. Pick 225 – J.R. Sweezy, DT, N.C. State (300 lb-er that is athletic enough to switch from D-line to O-line with Tom Cable’s tutelage. Practice Squad)
- Round 7. Pick 232 – Greg Scruggs, DE, Louisville (Couldn’t we have just taken a shot at Chris Polk with this pick? Possible Practice Squad)
Below are some really cool video’s I’ve found of all the picks in the draft class that video existed for. These are the quick hitting ESPN draft pick evaluations, or the PRE draft PFW scouting assessments.
Apologies to Sweezy and Scruggs, you’d better contact YouTube. I know there’s video out there of you, but not ESPN and PFW video. Look on our Seahawks forums for your videos.
Maybe Schneider or Sherman Smith, or Rocky Seto or Robert Saleh or someone else in the Seahawks organization with the last name starting with “S” can help you out guys.
