Seattle vs Atlanta Betting?
Headline: Seahawks Look for Berth in NFC Championship Sunday Against Atlanta
The Seattle Seahawks are proof that it doesn’t necessarily matter how you look early in the season – it is how you finish that will determine your fate in the playoffs. The Seahawks put a three game road winning streak and a six game overall win streak on the line when they head to Atlanta Sunday to take on the Falcons in one of the toughest road buildings to play in the NFL.

Seattle is hot, Atlanta is rested – it could be a classic Sunday – I can’t wait!
The Seahawks were sensational last week outside of the first quarter of action. Not only did the defense completely shut down one of the most dangerous offenses in the NFL but the offense was efficient, effective and unpredictable.
Seattle is on fire on both sides of the ball and even on the road they have become an absolute handful in every aspect of the game.
Last week Marshawn Lynch ran for 131 yards on just 19 carries, and Russell Wilson rushed for 67 yards and also passed for another 187 yards in Seattle’s 24-14 road win in Washington.
The numbers are not eye-popping but they display an efficiency and well-rounded attack that is an absolute nightmare to defend. Seattle only has the 27th ranked passing offense but there is no denying that they are dangerous when afforded the chance.
Seattle has been and will continue to be a run first offense against Atlanta’s slightly below average run defense. Marshawn Lynch will get his chances and will likely deliver as he has done all season for Seattle’s third best NFL rushing offense.
Seattle’s defensive play will likely be more important than the play of the offense on Sunday – Atlanta boast a host of talent on the offensive side of the ball – and they seem to raise the level of their game on home field. Seattle allowed the least points per game in the NFL this season (15.31) they were 10th against the run and 6th against the pass.
Seattle’s defensive play will likely be more important than the play of the offense on Sunday
The pass defense will be tested for certain on Sunday but this unit has risen to the occasion each and every time out this season.
The Atlanta Falcons finished 13-3 this season. Although the record is mighty impressive, this team showed at times that it is vulnerable, especially against big, physical defenses. But at home, Atlanta has been money in the bank – only a win will graduate this team from pretender to contender status.
The pressure is on in Atlanta for sure – this team has to win in the playoffs or another solid regular season will be deemed a failure.
The Falcons owned one of the passing games in the NFL this season – Roddy White, Julio Jones and Tony Gonzalez made up one of the best trios of pass catchers in the game.
Together with Matt Ryan, Atlanta was 7th in the NFL in passing – too bad the 29th ranked running game prevented them from becoming one of the scariest offenses in the NFL.
Balanced Atlanta is not – potent they are!
The Atlanta defense has been sketchy all season long – 21st against the run and 23rd versus the pass. But they have shown a knack of keeping their opposition out of the end zone – the Falcons were 5th in the NFL in points against allowing an average of just 19.69 per game.
This unit is somewhat vulnerable and is a group that scares Falcons fans going forward.

A few trends to consider:
• Seattle is 5-0 SU in its last 5 games
• The total has gone OVER in 5 of Seattle’s last 6 games when playing Atlanta
• The total has gone OVER in 4 of Seattle’s last 5 games on the road
• The total has gone OVER in 5 of Seattle’s last 7 games
• The total has gone UNDER in 5 of Atlanta’s last 5 games at home
• Atlanta is 11-1 SU in its last 12 games at home
• The total has gone UNDER in 6 of Atlanta’s last 7 games
• The total has gone OVER in 5 of Atlanta’s last 6 games when playing Seattle
Sunday’s game is a matchup of strength versus strength.
The Falcons will have to throw the ball a ton to be successful while Brandon Browner and Richard Sherman (arguably the best defensive back duo in the NFL) will be waiting.
The Falcons appear one-dimensional ahead of Sunday’s game – pretty easy to defend in theory.
Seattle shut Washington down last week and in turn gained a ton of confidence – this team now knows that they will win the big one on the road! Seattle is too balanced, too confident and too good in absolutely every aspect of the game to be denied in this one!
Pick: Seahawks +1.5

Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan has played in three postseason games since being drafted in 2008, he's 0-3, but says he's not feeling the pressure to win.
“I don’t worry about it. I don’t think about it,” Ryan said Wednesday before practice. “My focus is for this locker room and for the guys and the coaching staff that we're all together. We want to...
It’s no secret that Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman is one of the finest trash talkers in the NFL. He did his share of it during the widl card playoff game against the Redskins and, lucky for us, two things happened: 1. Trent Williams got mad enough to confront Sherman after the game and punch him in the face. 2. Richard Sherman was mic’d up. We get to hear the...
It was almost destined to happen. On Sunday afternoon, the sixth best passing offense will face the sixth best passing defense. Two should-be Pro Bowlers face up against two should-be Pro Bowlers. The battle to appear in the NFC Championship Game could come down to two matchups — Seattle cornerbacks Richard Sherman and Brandon Browner against Atlanta wide receivers Roddy White...

Ian Rapoport reports that the Seattle Seahawks will sign DE Patrick Chukwurah.
Chukwurah has been the leader in sacks for the past two seasons while playing in the United Football League.
The Seahawks also brought in Aaron Maybin, Ray Edwards, and C.J. LaBoy for tryouts, but Chukwurah wound up beating all of them out for the job.
The move was made after they lost DE Chris Clemons...
Ever wonder how it might have been?
There are a few “what if” questions that come to mind right off the bat when it comes to the Seattle Seahawks, and I will touch on those for sure, but I want to take a look at some other questions that have had me wondering over the years.
The two big ones are Drew Bledsoe, and Super Bowl XL.
Of course they are, right? Was there any other bigger...
FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. That's incredible!
Around the Falcons' headquarters, the player to whom coaches most compare Seattle rookie quarterback Russell Wilson is Pro Football Hall of Famer Fran Tarkenton, another quarterback smaller in stature.
With the Falcons gunning for their first playoff win on Sunday in their fourth try during head coach Mike Smith's five seasons...
The slowmotion video that surfaced of Washington Redskins offensive lineman Trent Williams punching Seattle Seahawks defensive back Richard Sherman after the Seahawks defeated the Redskins last week did not do the incident justince. It has been brought to our attention that not only was the incedent caught on film, it was caught on the mic that Sherman was [...]
Matt Ryan is a native of Pennsylvania, who just so happened to decide that he would play football at Boston College. That’s not stopping actor Mark Wahlberg — who actually is from Boston — to think the Atlanta Falcons quarterback is one of his own.
Deadspin points out that the actor created a video for members of the Atlanta Falcons, wishing them luck in this weekend’s NFC...
Of all of the games this weekend, this might be the hardest one for me to write because I think it’s going to be the best game of the lot. On one hand you have the hottest team in the NFC right now fresh off of an upset win in Washington. On the other, the team with the best record in football and a quarterback with an amazing track record at home. Something has to give as the...
For years, stats geeks and old-schoolers have been fighting over the importance numbers and trends possess when it comes to predicting future outcomes. The champion of the stats side of that argument is Nate Silver, who comes from the world of sabermetrics and who also happened to use his advanced system to predict the winner of all 50 states and all but one Senate race in November...
