Seattle vs Atlanta Betting? Headline: Seahawks Look for Berth in NFC Championship Sunday Against Atlanta The Seattle Seahawks are proof that it doesn’t necessarily matter how you look early in the season – it is how you finish that will determine your fate in the playoffs. The Seahawks put a three game road winning streak and a six game overall win streak on the line when they head to Atlanta Sunday to take on the Falcons in one of the toughest road buildings to play in the NFL. Seattle Seahawks (11-5) vs. Atlanta Falcons (13-3) Date/Time: Sunday, January 13, 1:00 PM ET Venue: Georgia Dome Broadcast: FOX Seahawks vs. Falcons Betting Lines from Bovada.lv Spread: Falcons -1 (-130) Moneyline: Seahawks +115: Falcons -135 Over/Under: 45 1/2 points Seattle is hot, Atlanta is rested – it could be a classic Sunday – I can’t wait! The Seahawks were sensational last week outside of the first quarter of action. Not only did the defense completely shut down one of the most dangerous offenses in the NFL but the offense was efficient, effective and unpredictable. Seattle is on fire on both sides of the ball and even on the road they have become an absolute handful in every aspect of the game. Last week Marshawn Lynch ran for 131 yards on just 19 carries, and Russell Wilson rushed for 67 yards and also passed for another 187 yards in Seattle’s 24-14 road win in Washington. The numbers are not eye-popping but they display an efficiency and well-rounded attack that is an absolute nightmare to defend. Seattle only has the 27th ranked passing offense but there is no denying that they are dangerous when afforded the chance. Seattle has been and will continue to be a run first offense against Atlanta’s slightly below average run defense. Marshawn Lynch will get his chances and will likely deliver as he has done all season for Seattle’s third best NFL rushing offense. Seattle’s defensive play will likely be more important than the play of the offense on Sunday – Atlanta boast a host of talent on the offensive side of the ball – and they seem to raise the level of their game on home field. Seattle allowed the least points per game in the NFL this season (15.31) they were 10th against the run and 6th against the pass. Seattle’s defensive play will likely be more important than the play of the offense on Sunday The pass defense will be tested for certain on Sunday but this unit has risen to the occasion each and every time out this season. The Atlanta Falcons finished 13-3 this season. Although the record is mighty impressive, this team showed at times that it is vulnerable, especially against big, physical defenses. But at home, Atlanta has been money in the bank – only a win will graduate this team from pretender to contender status. The pressure is on in Atlanta for sure – this team has to win in the playoffs or another solid regular season will be deemed a failure. The Falcons owned one of the passing games in the NFL this season – Roddy White, Julio Jones and Tony Gonzalez made up one of the best trios of pass catchers in the game. Together with Matt Ryan, Atlanta was 7th in the NFL in passing – too bad the 29th ranked running game prevented them from becoming one of the scariest offenses in the NFL. Balanced Atlanta is not – potent they are! The Atlanta defense has been sketchy all season long – 21st against the run and 23rd versus the pass. But they have shown a knack of keeping their opposition out of the end zone – the Falcons were 5th in the NFL in points against allowing an average of just 19.69 per game. This unit is somewhat vulnerable and is a group that scares Falcons fans going forward. Dave’s Won’t Cost You Anything Free Betting Prediction: A few trends to consider: • Seattle is 5-0 SU in its last 5 games • The total has gone OVER in 5 of Seattle’s last 6 games when playing Atlanta • The total has gone OVER in 4 of Seattle’s last 5 games on the road • The total has gone OVER in 5 of Seattle’s last 7 games • The total has gone UNDER in 5 of Atlanta’s last 5 games at home • Atlanta is 11-1 SU in its last 12 games at home • The total has gone UNDER in 6 of Atlanta’s last 7 games • The total has gone OVER in 5 of Atlanta’s last 6 games when playing Seattle Sunday’s game is a matchup of strength versus strength. The Falcons will have to throw the ball a ton to be successful while Brandon Browner and Richard Sherman (arguably the best defensive back duo in the NFL) will be waiting. The Falcons appear one-dimensional ahead of Sunday’s game – pretty easy to defend in theory. Seattle shut Washington down last week and in turn gained a ton of confidence – this team now knows that they will win the big one on the road!
