The Detroit Lions placed safety Amari Spievey on injured reserve Saturday, ending his season, to make room for cornerback Drayton Florence on the 53-man roster. Spievey, a third-round draft pick out of Iowa in 2010, missed the last three games because of a concussion. It was his second concussion in less than a year. Florence, who underwent surgery for a broken forearm in mid-September, is expected to play in Sundays game against Green Bay.

The Lions are falling apart and face a tough Division opponent this week, how will they respond. Week 11 preview.

The Lions are disappointing their fans this season.  This week their weak defense is facing Aaron Rodgers.  I just hope they don't give up 50. After a rough Week 10, I'm sitting at 92-54-1.  Who wants to keep track of a tie. Let's see if I can turn this around this week. Notes: Missed chances hurt Lions

DETROIT -- The Detroit Lions already know that Jason Hanson is a great field-goal kicker. Now they need to get him more point-after attempts. As bad as the Lions' defense looked in the last few minutes of Sunday's 24-20 loss to the Green Bay Packers, the offense could have helped them out by scoring more when they had the chance. Their first opportunity came in the first...

Detroit Lions look ahead to Packers

Even at 4-5, with the odds against them, the Detroit Lions won’t quit. I’m sure the attitude of their head coach plays a big part of it, and the tenacity of one veteran is a factor as well. Lions center Dominic Raiola said yesterday that counting the Lions out was “disrespectful” and compared his team to the also-4-and-5 Saints. “But the Saints are 4-5 and they’re right...

The Detroit Lions are an utter disappointment

Here are a few quick thoughts that I have before I head off to Ford Field for the afternoon. I don’t even like to write about the Detroit Lions right now because they just make me too upset.  They have the talent on offense, and their defense has been playing far better than expected, but their play calling has been utterly terrible. The offensive play calling in the first half...

Lions SS Amari Spievey, DT Corey Williams Ruled Out

The Lions have ruled out defensive tackle Corey Williams and safety Amari Spievey for Sunday's game against the Green Bay Packers. The Lions other starting safety, Louis Delmas, is listed as doubtful as well after not practicing since injuring his knee against the Seattle Seahawks on Oct. 28. Starting cornerback Chris Houston (ankle) and wide receiver Calvin Johnson (knee...

VAN HEUSEN & FUNNY OR DIE UNVEIL “STYLE IN TRAINING” VIDEO WITH MATTHEW STAFFORD, STEVE YOUNG & JERRY RICE

Men’s apparel brand, Van Heusen, continues to use football in its efforts to help young men improve their style game. The company first unveiled it’s “Institute of Style” campaign in 2010, in partnership with GQ and ESPN. The initiative issued a challenge to men, to transform themselves from “Schlub to Swagger.” The campaign merged men’s fashion and style with sports...

Lions DE Kyle Vanden Bosch Among Four Sidelined At Practice

The Detroit Lions closed out the week of practice still without starting safeties Amari Spievey and Louis Delmas. Also sitting out Friday were defensive linemen Corey Williams and Kyle Vanden Bosch. Williams has missed six consecutive practices with a lingering knee injury. Vanden Bosch had not previously appeared on the injury report this week. Practicing for the second consecutive...

Two Vikings fined for hits against Lions

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. Several Detroit Lions were upset about what they felt were cheap shots in last week's game against the Vikings, and the NFL apparently agreed, fining Minnesota linebacker Jasper Brinkley and safety Mistral Raymond this week. Brinkley was fined 21,000 and Raymond 7,875 for hits that came three plays apart during Minnesota's 34-24 win. The Lions were also...

Hamstring Injury Sidelines Lions OT Jeff Backus Vs Packers

Left tackle Jeff Backus, who extended his consecutive starts streak to 186 games, was knocked out of the game in the second quarter by a hamstring injury. He did not return for the second half. Rookie Riley Reiff replaced him. With the Thanksgiving Day game looming Thursday, Backus' streak, which is the longest in team history, could be in jeopardy. His 186 games played...

Lions WR Ryan Broyles Fined $10,000 For Crackback Block Vs Vikings

Lions receiver Ryan Broyles was fined $10,000 for his illegal crackback block on Minnesota Vikings cornerback Antoine Winfield in last Sunday's 34-24 loss. Broyles was flagged for a penalty when he hit Winfield below the knee during a run by Mikel Leshoure on the fourth offensive play of the game. The penalty helped stall out the Lions' first drive, and Minnesota answered...

This Sunday the Lions welcome in the Green Bay Packers to Ford Field as Detroit looks to string some wins together in hopes of making a late season run at the playoffs. However this is certainly a Packers team that has found itself after a 2-3 start to the season. Lions Respect, But Don't Like Rival Packers

The Detroit Lions have watched Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers rise to league stardom on the field -- and off the field, with the endless "Discount Double Check" commercials. Although they have respect for their NFC counterparts, as one Lions defender stated, "there's no love lost between the two of us."
