As belongings were packed up, the phrase became a popular refrain coming from all corners of the Seattle Seahawks locker room. ''We have a really good core group here.'' Whether it was safety Earl Thomas or rookie quarterback Russell Wilson uttering those words, they resonated with substance because the Seahawks went from a young team with potential to a team on the cusp of being an NFL power this season. The expectations will be different in 2013. No longer will the Seahawks be a pleasant surprise, but instead hold the title of contender. Among their starting 22 on offense and defense, the Seahawks have just two players who are unrestricted free agents - defensive tackle Alan Branch and outside linebacker Leroy Hill.

How Many NFL Rookie Quarterbacks Could Come From 20 Points Down To Almost Win Like Russell Wilson Did For Seattle?

Congratulations to Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks on the great season they had. I know they fell short of the goal, but Wilson has a lot of good years a head of himself and plenty of championships that could come his way. Russell Wilson did a great job of getting his Seahawks back into the game today. Some guys would have folded being down by 20 points in the first half...

Video: Little girl has meltdown after watching her Seahawks lose to Falcons

The Atlanta Falcons nearly suffered a monumental meltdown during Sunday's 30-28 victory over the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC playoffs. Unfortunately, a 10-year-old Seahawks fan wasn't so lucky. Trailing 27-7 entering the fourth quarter, the odds of a comeback for Seattle were very slim, especially being on the road. However, Russell Wilson and the Seahawks scored 21 unanswered...

What’s next for Seattle’s heart-attack Hawks?

Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks followed their come-from-behind win against the Washington Redskins in dramatically painful fashion. Against the Atlanta Falcons, they dug a 20-0 hole in the first half, but clawed back to take a 28-27 lead with a half-minute left. Or did they? For a few surreal moments, I wondered if Marshawn Lynch had scored or fumbled at the goal-line. Did...

Seahawks could look to trade Matt Flynn

Before Russell Wilson came out of nowhere, Matt Flynn was supposed to be the Seahawks' starting quarterback. Before the season started, however, it was Wilson, not Flynn that was named the Seahawks' starting quarterback, and it was without question the right move. Now, however, the Seahawks have a very expensive backup quarterback that could be trade ammunition in the offseason...

Title games feature Ravens-Pats, 49ers-Falcons

One game is a rematch. The other might feel like one. For the second straight year in the AFC, the New England Patriots will host the Baltimore Ravens with a trip to the Super Bowl on the line. In the NFC, it will be San Francisco traveling to Atlanta, with the Falcons defense trying to stop a versatile, running quarterback for the second straight week. On Saturday, Colin Kaepernick...

Falcons survive Seahawks

This game, the one over the weekend I looked forward to the most, was what I expected. Atlanta benefited from big home field advantage and the Falcons (NFL’s least penalized team) were only penalized for 11 yards. Seahawks looked jetlagged to start and fell behind 20-0 at halftime. Russell Wilson showed a little inexperience at the end of the first half as the Seahawks were unable...

The Seahawks would eventually fall short, and in this video courtesy of Off...
