The NFL just released the preseason schedule for the 2012 season. Who do the Seahawks have on the schedule? According to @ByTimBooth, the schedule shakes out like this:

https://twitter.com/#!/ByTimBooth/st...17240571588608

Game 1 the Seahawks will face Matt Hasselbeck, Jordan Babineaux, Steve Hutchinson and the rest of the Tennessee Titans in Seattle.

Game 2 pairs Seattle with the fish that got away in Peyton Manning and the new-look Denver Broncos. That game will be played in the Mile High City.

Game 3 sends the Seahawks to Kansas City to take on the Chiefs. No smart ass remarks on this game unfortunately.

Game 4 brings the yearly contest between the Seahawks and the Oakland Raiders in Seattle. Wonder how loud the boos for Aaron Curry will be?

The NFL seems to be trying to keep itself relevant by spacing the offseason regiment out to keep the NFL a hot topic even in the offseason.

What do you think, 12th man? Like the pre-season match ups?

You have to love the AFC West nostalgia they're throwing in there.

Titans kick off preseason in Seattle

The Titans will have a sort of homecoming for numerous members of the organization the quarterbacks in particular when they kick off their preseason schedule at Seattle. A date has yet to be officially scheduled, but the game will be played between Aug. 9 and 13. With veteran Matt Hasselbeck and Washington state native Jake Locker set to battle it out for the team's starting...

Hasselbeck glad Manning saga is over

Just as he had done the previous week when asked about the Peyton Manning saga that was still unfolding, Titans quarterback Matt Hasselbeck gave polished and professional answers regarding his return to the team after the Titans lost out on Manning. Hasselbeck had spoken of being "comfortable" with whatever decision was made in an interview with TitanInsider.com in the...

On drafting for 2013 and beyond, as well as 2012, from a Titans perspective

Many of us are guilty at times of being short-sighted when it comes to the draft, looking at upgrades that are hoped for now while overlooking future needs.  In that vein, I believe it's a good idea to take a look at the Titans starters (or those who could be starters) in 2012 whose contracts will expire at the end of this season.Seven players in the last year of their contracts...

The Titans need a DE early in the draft and I don't like most of them

ESPN's Todd McShay recently talked about defensive ends in the draft, as reported by John Glennon. “This class is loaded with defensive ends in the back half of the first round and all the way through the third round. You’ve got some guys that can get after the quarterback.” McShay mentioned three of them - Andre Branch, Whitney Mercilus and Nick Perry - as possibilities...

Tennessee Titans 2012 preseason schedule announced

For the third straight day, some vaguely substantive-like news thing out of Titans land. After the signings of Tim Shaw and Leger Douzable (officially confirmed today) the past two days, today saw the announcement of the Titans' preseason schedule. Last year at this time, I got to make snarky comments about the incongruent nature of announcing the preseason schedule when nobody...

Titans sign veteran defensive end Leger Douzable

The Tennessee Titans have signed veteran defensive end Leger Douzable to bolster a position that may lose three players to free agency. The Titans announced the move on Wednesday. Terms of the deal were not released. He played the last two years with the Jacksonville Jaguars, seeing action in 31 games and making 88 tackles, one sack and nine tackles for loss. Last season he started...

Tennessee Titans sign DT Leger Douzable

The Tennessee Titans have reportedly signed DL Leger Douzable, formerly of the Jacksonville Jaguars, to a one-year deal. Considering Douzable is mentioning it on his own twitter, I'm willing to accept it notwithstanding the absence of team confirmation.Douzable played his college ball at Central Florida before going undrafted in 2008. He started his career on the Vikings practice...

Titans, Giants take a look at Alshon Jeffrey

According to Gil Brandt of NFL.com, the Tennessee Titans worked out former South Carolina wide receiver Alshon Jeffrey and the New York Giants met with on Monday. Both the Titans and the Giants may end up looking to add depth at the receiver position in the draft.  The Titans could use another big-time receiver to pair up alongside Kenny Britt and the Giants are looking to fill...

Patriots Hire Chris Simms as Coaching Assistant

The New England Patriots have hired former NFL quarterback Chris Simms as a coaching assistant.  Simms is the son of CBS NFL analyst and Super Bowl XXI MVP Phil Simms. There has been no word from Foxboro yet about what Simms role may be but he did play for offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels while he was the head coach in Denver. Simms, who played quarterback at Texas, was...

GM Boot camp lesson 2

Yesterday the statistics (and I) told you the value for running backs begins with the second round. To most stats geeks, if you've seen one running back you've seen 'em all. Today I bring you a lesson in player value. We often talk about points charts when evaluating draft pick trades. Let's look at it from the perspective of expected career approximate value over...
