I know I am late on this but it’s something somewhat significant to throw a post up for.
The Seahawks have re-signed safety Lawyer Milloy to a one year deal.
Milloy represents the only player on the roster Pete Carroll has ever coached previously at the NFL level, and as it stands, he could very well be our starting safety across from Earl Thomas.
Much like the signing of Ben Hamilton, (in addition to finding a suitable starting guard after dealing Rob Sims), was to tutor the rookie left tackle who was going to fill the not fill-able shoes of Walter Jones; having someone familiar with Pete Carroll’s schemes tutoring Earl Thomas would have the same benefits.
He wasn’t used too much this season, only netting 37 tackles, and 2 PD’s, but keep in mind he is only one season removed a 93 tackle campaign with Atlanta in 2008.
It’s not too unrealistic to think he could put up similar stats while giving Thomas the invaluable tutelage of playing next to a 15 year veteran regarded as one of the leagues best safeties in the past couple decades.
