The Seattle Seahawks are set to sign veteran kicker Ryan Longwell in an effort to add a replacement to their roster in case Steve Hauschka is unable to suit up this weekend, reports Ian Rapoport of NFL.com. NFL.com's Ian Rapoport confirmed Tuesday that the team will sign veteran kicker Ryan Longwell. Longwell was a 15-year veteran entering the 2012 season, but he has not kicked in the NFL at all this year. He last appeared in 2011 with the Minnesota Vikings, making 22 of 28 field goal attempts. Hauschka sustained a calf injury during the first half of last weekend’s opening round playoff game against the Washington Redskins. He was able to continue to kick field goals and extra points, but punter Jon Ryan was forced to take over kickoff duties for the remainder of the game. Hauschka remains a possibility to play against the Atlanta Falcons in this weekend’s Divisional round playoff matchup, but the Seahawks are hedging their bets by adding the veteran Longwell as insurance. Sherman was mic'd up when he got punched

It’s no secret that Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman is one of the finest trash talkers in the NFL. He did his share of it during the widl card playoff game against the Redskins and, lucky for us, two things happened: 1. Trent Williams got mad enough to confront Sherman after the game and punch him in the face. 2. Richard Sherman was mic’d up.  We get to hear the...

Reports: Clemons has torn ACL

The Seattle Seahawks will face their divisional-round playoff battle at Atlanta without their top pass rusher, as defensive end Chris Clemons has a torn ACL, according to reports. Clemons suffered the injury in Sunday's wild-card win at Washington and had an MRI that reportedly confirmed the injury on Monday. Clemons was not hit on the play and appeared to get his cleats caught...

Seattle finally solves playoff futility on road

The Seattle Seahawks solving 29 years of road futility in the playoffs came with a downside. Seattle coach Pete Carroll said Monday that defensive end Chris Clemons suffered a torn ACL and torn meniscus in his left knee and will be lost for the rest of the playoffs. Clemons was injured in the third quarter of Sunday's 24-14 win over Washington, the Seahawks' first postseason...

Seahawks Sign DE Patrick Chukwurah

Ian Rapoport reports that the Seattle Seahawks will sign DE Patrick Chukwurah. Chukwurah has been the leader in sacks for the past two seasons while playing in the United Football League. The Seahawks also brought in Aaron Maybin, Ray Edwards, and C.J. LaBoy for tryouts, but Chukwurah wound up beating all of them out for the job. The move was made after they lost DE Chris Clemons...

Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch Did Not Practice Today

Seattle running back Marshawn Lynch did not practice because of a foot injury on Wednesday. Cornerback Byron Maxwell (hamstring) and safety Jeron Johnson (hamstring) also did not practice. Lynch was listed on the injury report last weak with a back injury on Wednesday. He fully participated in practice on Thursday and Friday, so the foot injury is new and may have been incurred...

Russell Wilson presents challenge to Falcons

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. That's incredible! Around the Falcons' headquarters, the player to whom coaches most compare Seattle rookie quarterback Russell Wilson is Pro Football Hall of Famer Fran Tarkenton, another quarterback smaller in stature. With the Falcons gunning for their first playoff win on Sunday in their fourth try during head coach Mike Smith's five seasons...

Moments in time…The Seattle Seahawks week that was

On to the divisionals It started with a bang, just not the bang the Seattle Seahawks were looking for. But being the team that no one picks all year long, the way the Seahawks won this game was in typical fashion of a so called “underdog.” Yes, we were technically the favorite, but for anyone who knows the history of this team, an away game against anybody is never a gimme, just...

Seahawks Place K Steven Hauschka On Injured Reserve

The Seahawks have placed kicker Steven Hauschka on injured reserve and signed kicker Ryan Longwell, the team announced Wednesday. Hauschka converted 24 of 27 field goals and 46 of 48 extra points this season and set the postseason franchise-mark with three field goals made in the NFC Wild Card game at Washington while kicking with an injured calf. Longwell last kicked with the Vikings...

The punch to Seahawks Richard Sherman’s face was mic’d up

The slowmotion video that surfaced of Washington Redskins offensive lineman Trent Williams punching Seattle Seahawks defensive back Richard Sherman after the Seahawks defeated the Redskins last week did not do the incident justince. It has been brought to our attention that not only was the incedent caught on film, it was caught on the mic that Sherman was [...]

Richard Sherman, Brandon Browner Present Perfect Combination to Stop Roddy White, Julio Jones

It was almost destined to happen. On Sunday afternoon, the sixth best passing offense will face the sixth best passing defense. Two should-be Pro Bowlers face up against two should-be Pro Bowlers. The battle to appear in the NFC Championship Game could come down to two matchups — Seattle cornerbacks Richard Sherman and Brandon Browner against Atlanta wide receivers Roddy White...

Playoff battles: Seahawks “Legion Of Boom” against Falcons air attack

Best Matchup Yet? On Sunday afternoon and into the evening the Seattle Seahawks showed the nation why they deserved recognition in the 2013 NFL Playoffs. After having a slow start to their contest against the Washington Redskins (when the Seahawks fell behind 14 points), both their offense and defense kicked something up a notch as they cruised to 24 straight points en route to...

As the Divisional Round Looms, Matt Ryan and the Falcons Face Enormous Pressure

Russell Wilson vs. Matt Ryan. One guy is a rookie, kind of that “other guy” in the Rookie of the Year discussion, but when you watch him, maybe he is “the guy” of the same discussion. The guy who has led the Seahawks to a surprising 11-5 record and, as of late, has his team playing [...]

Seahawks Will Be Bringing Kickers In For Tryout

The Seattle Seahawks are going to take a close look at some kickers with concern that a calf injury could sideline Steven Hauschka this week. Hauschka was replaced by punter Jon Ryan on kickoffs in Sunday’s wild-card round victory at Washington and the Seahawks very well could have themselves a new kicker in time for the divisional round game at Atlanta. According to Ed Werder...

Redskins Accuse Seattle Seahawks Of Cheap Shots

Richard Sherman explained his side of the events leading to Sunday's postgame face shove courtesy of Trent Williams. Now Washington Redskins players are elucidating the frustrations behind the scuffle. "There was a cheap shot -- (Seahawks defensive end) Red Bryant tried to step on (Alfred Morris) after a play and hit him in the head," Redskins fullback Darrel Young...

Richard Sherman Was Mic’d Up When He Got Smushed-Faced By Redskins’ Trent Williams

By now we’ve all seen the video of the incident between Richard Sherman and Trent Williams after the Seahawks vs. Redskins playoff game. What we haven’t seen is the mic’d up version. Seahawks CB Richard Sherman was mic’d up for the entire playoff game. This video shows that he was still mic’d up when Williams confronted Sherman after the game. All I can say after watching...
