Seahawks score major points in playoff push.
*For all you Seahawks fans and observers, let me apologize for the Sports Nut’s technical difficulties this past week. It is my responsibility to continue to keep you all connected to Seahawks football, however irreverent it may be sometimes. You have all been very supportive.
While Marshawn was doing -this-…
Behind a strong running game and a (few) takeaways, the Seahawks piled up nearly enough points (58) to have defeated 4 teams in Week 14. After today’s shutout, their defense’s average points yield is 15.5 point-per-game. Seattle’s first four regular season games’ yield: 20 + 7 + 12 + 19 = 58.
That “20″ in the sequence of the above defensive yields, was courtesy of the Cardinals, including help from John Skelton.
Skelton was doing this…
Takeaways:
Did I hear correctly, the Seahawks had 8 takeaways in their game against the Arizona Cardinals this weekend. Of all the things that have amazed me in Week 14, it’s the outcome of this game. I expected the Seahawks to win, but I never anticipated the Cardinals would throw four interceptions and score zero points. This game in Seattle became very much inflated. After winning against Chicago, I thought the Seahawks were well positioned to “float” a little higher in the playoff brackets. They did, right past the Bears, who lost to the Vikings this weekend. The Bears and Seahawks have equal records, but the Seahawks own the tie-breaker due to their win in the head-to-head match against the Bears last week.
Float on:
You’d look like a child playing in sandbox too if all your teammates were scoring. Leon Washington had a rushing TD today.
Like a modest mouse, the Seahawks keep nibbling away at the cheese. Currently, the Seahawks are in the 5th seed for the Wild Card, the Bears are in the 6thspot. The Green Bay Packers reside in the number 3 seed. Should the Packers drop to the same record as the Seahawks, Seattle would push past the Packers, due to their head-to-head win against Green Bay, controversy notwithstanding. Let me not look to closely on all the mathematics of each team’s future schedule just yet.

All you can score-SPECIAL!
This game had everything… Special Teams scoring, defensive scoring, two hundred-yard rushers, one hundred-yards-receiving TE, a bagel… four quarterbacks. Russell Wilson attempted less than half his average number of passes per game. Mind you he was done by the third quarter, when Matt Flynn came in to keep things steady, but still. The run game was exceptional. Marshawn Lynch ran for 128 yards, 3 touchdowns. Robert Turbin added 108 yards. I’d call that great play calling.
The Cardinals were wholesaling giveaways. Outstanding young talent Patrick Peterson lost two fumbles. Each of Arizona’s quarterbacks lost a fumble. Middle linebacker Bobby Wagner and cornerback Richard Sherman each had two interceptions. Sherman also had a fumble recovery. The defense scored on a Richard Sherman interception return and on a Malcolm Smith (OLB) fumble recovery in the end zone.
Seahawks: too full to eat their last two timeouts.
I’d have thought with all that, the Seahawks had pulled out all the stops. Rather, they pulled all but 2!
Winsome Wilson
Remember long, long ago, in the Sluggo archives, I used to do a little segment call “Wookie Wevue”? Check this Wookie out. Of course, no one mentions the Wookie Wevue in the film, at least not literally.
