As we continue the Team Needs series for the 2013 NFL Draft, we proceed to the team with the twenty-fifth overall pick; the Seattle Seahawks. After a remarkable season that saw Seattle become the darlings of the NFL, Seattle has to be considered an NFC favorite headed into 2013. The play of rookie quarterback Russell Wilson was a big part of both of the above reasons as he was arguably the best of the rookie batch last season. Here is some of the things I think Pete Carroll will look for in the draft to help him avoid the dreaded sophomore slump. Defensive Tackle It seems odd that a team that finished with the fourth best overall defense in the league last year would look to address a defensive need early in the first round. But I think they will go this way because they love to rush the passer and were unable to do so consistently with the interior. With as many times as the team has met with him, I have to believe they will be targeting Datone Jones with their first round selecti...

Richard Sherman unloads on Skip Bayless: ‘I’m better at life than you’ (Video)

Skip Bayless is easily one of the most hated television personalities in sports history, but Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman could very well hate him more than any athlete in America. We learned that on Thursday, when Sherman unloaded on Bayless and insulted him on multiple occasions during an appearance on ESPN’s “First Take.” Bayless repeatedly tried to bait Sherman...

Seattle Seahawks: 5 Biggest Questions Heading Into 2013 Offseason

The Seahawks finished the 2012 season as one of the NFL's hottest teams. With budding superstar Russell Wilson at quarterback, beast mode rusher Marshawn Lynch at running back, and a secondary boasting some of the best young talent in Richard Sherman, Earl Thomas, and Kam Chancellor, the Seahawks have quite a bit going for them heading into the 2013 offseason. The Seahawks also...

Richard Sherman completely rips Skip Bayless on FIrst Take (Video)

Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman appeared on ESPN’s First Take and completely ripped co-host Skip Bayless to his face during today’s show. Sherman took a page out of Terrell Suggs’ book and didn’t hold back at all from telling Bayless what he thinks of him and his opinions. I really give Sherman a lot of credit for staying calm while laying into Bayless. Below...

Former Falcons pass rush specialist John Abraham to visit with Seahawks

According to Gregg Rosenthal of the NFL Network, Pete Carroll isn’t wasting anytime looking to add talent to his roster. The already deep Seahawks have expressed interest in veterans Charles Woodson and Cullen Jenkins, now they turn their sights to former Falcons pass rushing demon John Abraham. who had 33 tackles, 6 forced fumbles, and 10 sacks in 2012. Rosenthal writes: ‘John...

Seattle Seahawks sign someone who doesn’t play football

The Seattle Seahawks are not afraid to roll the dice. One year after giving Matt Flynn a long-term contract and then drafting Russell Wilson and inserting him as the starter, the Seahawks are once again raising eyebrows with personnel moves. This time around it involves signing a player that hasn’t played organized football in nearly ten years. Darren Fells, a 6-7 forward in basketball...

Richard Sherman Busting Skip Bayless Is ESPN Theater

I try to ignore Skip Bayless stuff as best I can. I already have to focus overmuch on Peter King. There’s only so much overt media trolling one can consume before being forced to stab their eyeballs, ear drums and frontal lobe. Bayless is also fairly easy to ignore if you really want to. He’s white noise, hardly central to what’s going on in the league. But enough people (actually...

A Q&A about Matt Flynn

Like everyone under the sun in the (716), I've been doing a lot of thinking when it comes to the Bills QB issues. I'm all over the place with the subject matter. I know I want change, but the road on how to get there feels like a crossroad on a LA Expressway. Just too many intersections that don't exactly lead to promise.   In fact, I have a post brewing...

John Abraham Will Visit With The Seahawks

Kimberly Jones has been informed that free agent DE John Abraham is on his way to meet with the Seattle Seahawks. This is the first report of Abraham visiting with an team since he was released by the Falcons last Wednesday. Abraham, 35, could be an affordable defensive end who could mitigate the impact of losing Chris Clemons to a torn ACL. He tallied 10 sacks for the Falcons...

The Browns, analytics, and finding market inefficiencies as an organization

Yesterday, I wrote about how I thought that the analytics revolution in Berea would be subtle. Today, I’m going to suggest some practical ways that analytics could be used inside the building to help the Browns. More often than not, it will be supplemental reports to help increase confidence levels in decision-making processes in an effort to reduce the frequency of inevitable...
