SEAHAWKS vs. PANTHERS (Oct 7 4:05 PM ET) The Seahawks lost their last game and the main reason was that Russell Wilson had his first really bad game throwing 3 picks in a loss to the Rams. Seattle played pretty good D, especially against the run, and Marshawn Lynch rushed for 118 yards with 1 TD and he averaged a legit 5.9 yards per carry. That is not good for a Panthers’ run defense that ranks 25th in the league. Carolina played a good game last week losing to the undefeated Atlanta Falcons 30-28 and Cam Newton had his best game of the season passing for 215 yards with 2 TD and 0 INT and he also rushed for 86 yards with 1 TD. Even though the Seahawks do not have a dynamic offense they face a Carolina defense that did not play good last week. The Seattle pass rush has been decent this season and they have to get to Newton, who was sacked 7 times last week. Have to go with the Seahawks even on the road, as I think they will win with their D and keep Newton from having a big game.

Cecil Newton: Cam needs to change postgame behavior

Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton has been criticized this season for his demeanor following losses. The second-year player was called out for conducting a postgame press conference following a Week 3 loss to the Giants where he didn’t look up while answering questions. He also reportedly held up the team’s bus after a Week 4 loss because he was sulking in the locker room...

Cam Newton has another poor performance in loss to the Seahawks

For as much promise as Cam Newton and the Panthers showed just a season ago, they've shown nothing but disappointment so far in 2012, dropping to 1-4 following today's loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Once again, Cam Newton couldn't find his rhythm, completing less than 50% of his passes on the day. The bad news is, help is not on the way. The Panthers have their bye...

Cam Newton fires back at critics

The last few weeks have not been kind to Cam Newton. Underwhelming performances, coupled with a woe-is-me, sulking persona, has ignited criticism from fans, media, and even his own teammates. Just a year ago, Newton was tearing up the league as a rookie phenom. Now he’s made a mockery of — in his own town, no less. He’s found out the hard way that it’s not easy playing quarterback...

Cam Newton going through the Sophomore Slump

Cam Newton’s play this year is certainly giving credence to the idea of a sophomore slump.  The throw in that gif from late in the 4th quarter with a chance to get the lead virtually sums up his performances thus far this season.  He hasn’t been effective in any game this year, and his attitude seems to be getting worse with each loss; perhaps expectations were too high after...

Five Seattle Seahawks who must impress vs. Panthers Sunday

Superman’s kryptonite It’s week 5 for the Seattle Seahawks as they head into Carolina this weekend to take on the Panthers. Seattle Seahawks vs. Carolina Panthers: Five Things We Learned

Carolina Panthers starting quarterback Cam Newton needs a hug. I just have this mental image of him sitting down in front of a baby grand piano, scooching the bench a little closer, placing his fingers upon the keys, then letting go with a long, audible sigh.A small child, eyes bright with wonder, heart bursting with love, mind overloaded with a insatiable desire for knowledge of...

Seahawks 16, Panthers 12

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson pieced together enough on Seattle's drives into Carolina Panthers territory to make it a happy homecoming. The Seahawks won 16-12 Sunday at Bank of America Stadium, where the Panthers couldn't overcome quarterback Cam Newton's struggles. It took one touchdown for the Seahawks (3-2) to win for the first time in...

Seahawks reportedly concerned about Matt Flynn’s elbow

According to Dan Arkush of ProFootballWeekly.com, the Seatlte Seahawks are still concerned about the Matt Flynn’s elbow. One of the reasons it wouldn’t make sense to bench Russell Wilson in favor of Flynn if the Seahawks don’t improve, is that no one knows how his elbow will hold up. “The thing is, they’re giving Wilson the great majority of reps in practice, because they...

Seattle defense overcomes mistakes

Considering the unique challenges the Carolina offense presented, Pete Carroll believes the Seattle Seahawks' defensive performance against the Panthers could be the best since he returned to the NFL as Seattle's coach in 2009. The Seahawks leaned on their defense heavily in Sunday's 16-12 win over Carolina to make up for three turnovers early in the second half that...

Rested Buccaneers turn attention to Chiefs

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are rested and eager to resume their season. The Bucs (1-3) will try to snap a...

Week 5: Seahawks at Panthers Game Thread

The Seahawks are on the road again this week taking on yet another opponent they should be able to beat in the Panthers.  The lynchpin of Carolina's offense is still Cam Newton, who through four weeks has been putting up similar numbers to those from his Pro Bowl rookie season.  He's getting plenty of help in the ground game from DeAngelo Williams, but his only...
