Chargers’ Quentin Jammer has a broken hand

According to Michael Gehlken of the San Diego Union-Tribune, Chargers cornerback Quentin suffered a broken hand in Monday night’s loss to the Raiders. “Sources said Jammer broke his hand. It is unknown how it will affect his Week 2 status. Jammer has missed just two games and three starts since 2003,” Gehlken reported. The Chargers also lost cornerback Shareece Wright to a...

Chargers won’t put Jared Gaither on IR yet

Jared Gaither has been ruled out for week 1 with back spasms, particularly concerning because back spasms are a lingering problem and Gaither missed about a half and a year with back problems from 2010-2011. However, when asked about putting Gaither on IR, Head Coach Norv Turner said “I think that’s way premature.” I agree it is, but it’s definitely a concerning situation...

Chargers Win Opener vs. Rival Raiders

Philip Rivers and the San Diego Chargers capitalized on mistakes instead of making them for a change. Rivers threw a 6-yard touchdown pass to Malcom Floyd and Nate Kaeding kicked five field goals to spoil Dennis Allen's debut as Oakland coach by beating the Raiders 22-14 on Monday night.

Oakland fumbles away chances to San Diego

Despite the new regime, it's the same old Raiders as mistakes lead to home loss against Phillip Rivers and the San Diego Chargers.

Newcomers, Kaeding help Bolts bounce Raiders

Coach Norv Turner was rattling off the names of newcomers who helped the San Diego Chargers beat the Oakland Raiders 22-14 on Monday night. There were receivers Robert Meachem and Eddie Royal, whose big plays helped set up San Diego's first score. There were big hits by safety Atari Bigby and rookie outside linebacker Melvin Ingram. Undrafted rookie left tackle Mike Harris held...

GameDay: San Diego at Oakland

The final contest of Week 1, surprisingly, will be between the teams expected to fight for 3rd and 4th in the AFC North. Both teams have high ceilings but expectations have been reined in for seemingly yearly disappointment. It must be tough, in 2012, to be a fan of either of these teams. Both are mediocre at best with enough knuckleheads on the sidelines to drive you nuts. Then...

San Diego Chargers vs. Oakland Raiders: Hero and Zero of the Game

The late Monday night game showcasing the Oakland Raiders and San Diego Chargers was probably missed by fans of either team who reside on the East Coast as the contest ended after one in the morning. That was probably for the best as Oakland lost what looked to be a battle of ineptitude 22-14.Early risers might have been fooled initially by the final score into thinking it was...
