Patriots’ right tackle Sebastian Vollmer had knee surgery, according to Karen Guregian of the Boston Herald. Vollmer is set to explore the free agent market in March, but recently underwent an arthroscopic procedure on his knee. This is another injury being fixed in a long line for the often injured tackle. Vollmer has a chronic back problem that will keep the Patriots from franchising him. When healthy, Vollmer is an above average offensive lineman; however, the Patriots won’t break the bank for him, and will let him test free agency. var switchTo5x=true; stLight.options({publisher:''});

Patriots’ Sebastian Vollmer underwent knee surgery

According to the Boston Herald, New England Patriots right tackle Sebastian Vollmer recently underwent arthroscopic knee surgery. Vollmer is scheduled to hit the free agent market next month.  Of course the Patriots could always hit him with the franchise tag if they’re not ready to give him an extension yet.   Need NFL Tickets? var _CI = _CI || {}; (function() { var script...

Rob Gronkowski Off Oscars Duty?

New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski is not shy. The man is known almost as much for his over the top, hard-partying personality as he is for his skill on the football field. That's probably why the Rich Eisen Podcast wanted him as its Oscars correspondent on the red carpet this Sunday. The big man would have no trouble approaching anyone. Heck, half the time they...

Chasing The Patriots (by ESPN) Every move the Dolphins make this off-season should be geared toward beating the Patriots.  I think they should pursue athletic tight ends to really attack the Patriots linebackers in coverage. That’s where they’ve been weakest over the past three seasons.

Is Tavon Wilson good?

Patriot's beat writer Mike Reiss posted today about Tavon Wilson, labeling him a "wild card," and raising some excellent questions about the Patriots safety coming off his rookie season. Based on what we have seen thus far, Wilson's role in future of the secondary is difficult to assess. I posted on PatriotsLife in January and spoke to the playmaking ability...

The Patriots trying to lock up Kyle Arrington for some reason

Kyle Arrington has a good year in 2011, then followed up with an absolutely miserable one in 2012. For whatever reason, the Patriots seemed to have blanked out this past season and are deadset on making sure the former undrafted rookie doesn't his the open market. Boston Herald: The Patriots will meet with Kyle Arrington's representation this week at the combine to discuss...

Top 5 free-agent cornerbacks the Patriots could sign

The Patriots have a whole lot of needs this off-season, and one of the most popular to point to is the secondary. Last year, the Patriots defense started out terribly against the pass. Then they traded for Aqib Talib, promoted Alfonzo Dennard to starter, moved Devin McCourty to safety, and vastly improved. Unfortunately we could be looking at yet another complete makeover in the...

Wednesday.Karen Guregian of the Boston Herald was first to report the procedure Friday, and ESPN Boston's Mike Reiss confirmed that the scope did in fact occur two days ago. Patriots Are Already Stocked at Tight End, But Anthony Fasano Would Offer Depth Behind Rob Gronkowski

Editor’s Note: NESN.com will evaluate and analyze one potential Patriots free agent addition every day from February 18 through the start of NFL free agency on March 12. The Patriots are tight end crazy in the same way that teenage girls are boy crazy. There is just an insatiable desire for more. Last season, the Patriots began the season with six tight ends in tow — Rob Gronkowski...

Anthony Spencer Would Improve Patriots’ Pass Rush, But Other Defensive Needs Must Take Precedent

Bill Belichick finally addressed the Patriots’ glaring pass rush deficiency in last year’s draft with the selection of defensive end Chandler Jones and linebacker Dont’a Hightower in the first round. Jones (six sacks) and Hightower (four) helped add some pressure off the edge, along with the team’s sack leader Rob Ninkovich (eight), in 2012. Even with the stellar efforts...
