Over the past month the Bengals defensive coaches have been impressed with the progress of cornerback Brandon Ghee. With Leon Hall being placed on injured reserve, the second-year player is back on the roster after being signed from the practice squad.
Said secondary coach Kevin Coyle of Ghee: “We were hoping to figure out a way to get him on. There are only so many spots on the roster because there are a lot of young players you would like to have the opportunity to see. After the past couple of weeks in our meetings everyone has noticed that his play has started to step up.”
To say Ghee’s career here has been injury-plagued would be kind. After being drafted in the third round last year, he played in only six games. He was limited early due to a concussion in the preseason at Buffalo and then suffered a groin injury in the Week 11 game against the Bills, which ended his season.
In the preseason this year, Ghee had a nagging hamstring injury and played in only two games.
