The Seahawks have finally done it, the have cut Shaun Alexander. The former MVP got a big money contract, turned 30 and his production dropped significantly. Some blame the loss of Steve Hutchinson, others point out that he has has nagging injuries. Whatever the reason he's not the back he was and now he's unemployed. Alexander was scheduled to earn $4,475,000 in 2008. He set a then-NFL record in touchdowns (28) and a franchise record in rushing yards (1,880) in 2006 and was rewarded with an eight-year, $62 million contract. He has received $18.8 million in base salary from that deal, and about $13.5 million guarantees through signing and other bonuses. Year Att. Yards Avg.
