MOBILE – Despite not having a first-round pick in the 2012 NFL draft, several members from the Tim Tebow got off to a slow start at Senior Bowl workouts a couple of years ago. (Dave Martin, Associated Press)  Falcons’ personnel department and coaching staff will scout the practices and the 63rd annual Senior Bowl all-star game. The practices start on Monday and the game, between the North and South teams, will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at Ladd-Peebles Stadium. The NFL Network will cover the practices and the game. They retained picks in the second, third, fifth, sixth and seventh rounds. Without a first-round pick, the Falcons hope to uncover a second-round gem. Falcons made another chance on coaching staff

The Atlanta Falcons have made another change on their coaching staff, firing defensive backs assistant Alvin Reynolds. The announcement Monday continues the shakeup that began after the Falcons were blown out by the New York Giants in the opening round of the playoffs. Reynolds had been with the team since head coach Mike Smith was hired in 2008. The Falcons lost Smith's top...

State of The Franchise – The Quarterbacks

This is the 2nd post in the State of The Franchise that will run over the next few weeks. I reviewed the Falcons corners a week or so ago, in light of the news that Brent Grimes could be deemed expendable by the organisation. Today is the turn of the QB position. Obviously this conversion begins by discussing current starter Matt Ryan. Despite having a lot of regular season success...

Falcons Free Agents to Re-sign

Give Your List of Must-Keeps Not Even a Debate on Lofton (AP) As the Atlanta Falcons approach the 2012 off-season, one of the most interesting points to follow is how much the Birds roster, which has been extremely stable the last four year, will change. Those very few changes made a lot of sense when the Falcons were believed to be “right on the cusp of greatness.” But...

Fullbacking Future

Is Ovie done in Atlanta? To be honest, when I wrote up the free agent focus article on the running back position, I completely ignored the fullback position. It was an error on my part because it’s a position that is often overlooked, but in the case of the Falcons it certainly will be worth watching this off-season. New offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter by many accounts prefers...

Talks Continue On New Falcons Stadium

Eleven months ago, the Georgia World Congress Center Authority and the Atlanta Falcons agreed to enter negotiations about a potential new open-air football stadium downtown. They're still negotiating, both parties say. A possible sign of movement came earlier this month, when Gov. Nathan Deal included money in his 2012 budget to purchase property next to the proposed stadium...

The team announced that secondary coach Alvin Reynolds won’t return to the Falcons in 2012, joining former offensive line coach Paul Boudreau as another assistant that the Falcons opted not to renew their contracts with the team. Reynolds came over to the Falcons with Mike Smith in 2008 after several years as the defensive backs coach with the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Falcons...

NFL coaching vacancies filled with repeats

Rookie head coaches weren’t en vogue for openings that have already been filled this year. SENIOR BOWL: Saban on Julio Jones trade, Paterno

FAIRHOPE, Ala. –  Alabama coach Nick Saban attended the South’s practice at Fairhope Municipal Stadium on Monday.
