The NFL announced the 2012 Pro Bowl roster Wednesday. Here's the seven Patriots selected. Tom Brady Wes Welker Rob Gronkowski Logan Mankins Vince Wilfork Jerod Mayo Matthew Slater  All are repeat Pro Bowlers from 2011 except for Jerod Mayo, who was last selected in 2010. Mayo said, via Boston.com: “It’s an honor to be recognized by my peers, the coaches and the fans, but it’s more of an honor to be one of seven of my teammates going to Hawaii, since that is a reflection of our overall success,” Mayo said in a statement released by the team.“We’ll all enjoy the recognition tonight with our families and be right back to focusing on the Dolphins in the morning.” Tom Brady: “It is flattering to be selected, but I have always considered Pro Bowl recognition as a reflection of the team’s overall success. I am happy for my many teammates who were selected again this year... One day, I am sure I will have a greater appreciation for individual accomplishments, but this week my focus is simply on our preparations for Miami.” var switchTo5x=true; stLight.options({publisher:''});

NFL Week 17 Injury Report: New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski

The New England Patriots have been without TE Rob Gronkowski for several weeks after he suffered a broken forearm. He returned to practice in the middle of December, but has failed to return to the field in game situations as of yet. In recent weeks, there has been speculation as to when Gronkowski would return to the field, after officially being listed as questionable on the team’s...

New England Patriots: How They Can/Can’t Win it All

Continuing in this series, I’ve got the next team I think is the most logical choice to win the Super Bowl this season; the New England Patriots. Now I realize that if your pick before the season started to play in the Super Bowl was New England and Green Bay, well you’re not going out on a limb too far. This is why that wasn’t my original pick. But if you were asking...

Time is now for Patriots defense to grow up fast

It’s been the Tom Brady show since 2007, but before that, the defense was a thing of beauty in New England. The likes of Richard Seymour, Asante Samuel, Mike Vrabel and Ted Bruschi carved out the Patriot Way; they played it hard, but worked it harder. This is the defense Bill Belichick wants, he’s just waiting for them to grow up. Belichick has his pass rusher in Chandler Jones...

Woodhead Has Been At Best Down The Stretch For Patriots

Little big man: Danny Woodhead often leaves some opposing defenders with this look as they try to figure out how a person his size got by them. When the Patriots need a spark on offense, which believe it or not, they sometimes do, the team often finds themselves turning to the little man with the big heart, Danny Woodhead. The 5-foot-8-inch running back from the slightly undersized...

Patriots To Wrap Up 2012 On Sunday

It’s hard to believe, but another NFL regular season winds down this weekend. Another season of Tom Brady and Bill Belichick will be in the books. What a run it has been. Why not try to enjoy it while we still have it? As for Sunday, it seems pretty simple. If the Texans win, I think the Patriots treat this week as their bye. As many key players as possible will be rested. There...

The Dolphin's - Tom Brady Defense

Beating the Patriots is never easy with Belichick at the helm and Brady behind center, but Brady has a weakness and the Dolphins have exploited it in prior seasons. Brady is one of the hardest... Come here for the best Miami Dolphins blog on the web. We have all of the most up to date new and opinions on the Dolphins organization for its fans.

Brady close to breaking wins record

Tom Brady was in his second season as a pro when he won his first playoff game. Now as a 13-year veteran, the New England Patriots star needs one more victory to break a tie with Joe Montana for most in the postseason by a quarterback. He'd love to get his 17th on Sunday against the Houston Texans, not just to reach the milestone but to also advance to the AFC championship...

Seven Patriots will play in Pro Bowl, do you even care?

I for one could care less. Who watches this game? It's great for players to be honored with a pro bowl selection but it becomes such a joke of a game. After injuries, etc. there's always a ton of players that get into the Pro Bowl despite probably not deserving it. Andy Dalton played in the Pro Bowl last year. Andy Dalton!Boston.comThe NFL has released the AFC and NFC rosters...

Analyzing Brady's Recent Struggles

Tom Brady is now up to 8 INTs on the season, but not so long ago he only had 3. Brady has always been streaky when it comes to INTs. Hopefully he can start another INT-free streak heading into the postseason. Still, let's examine why he has fallen into this little slump as of late.Brady throws a lot of passes into tight windows, so tipped passes are usually the main culprit of...

Vince Wilfork Fined $30,000, Pat Chung Not Facing Additional Punishment for Questionable Hits Against Jaguars

Vince Wilfork‘s wallet is a little lighter this week. Pat Chung‘s is still the same. Wilfork was fined $30,000 by the NFL for hitting Jaguars offensive lineman Steve Vallos in the head at the end of a fourth-quarter punt return, according to the NFL. The defensive lineman was flagged for unnecessary roughness on the play, resulting in a 15-yard penalty. Chung, on the other...

Tom Brady, Patriots Must Find Momentum, Mental Toughness This Week to Keep Season From Slipping Away

Tom Brady was ticked off after the Patriots’ win against the Jaguars last Sunday. As he should have been — it was less a game than a poorly executed practice, with all facets of the team playing with a general malaise. While recent studies have shown that an angry Brady is a terrific Brady for the Patriots, this kind of angry Brady is not. Brady should be praised for getting...

Aqib Talib’s Health Just as Important to Patriots as Rob Gronkowski’s With Team Preparing for Playoffs

Christmas has come and gone and we’re heading full steam into the new year with plenty of chips left to fall in the NFL playoff picture. The Falcons reign supreme atop the NFC standings, but beyond them there isn’t much else settled. As for the AFC, the teams are set but it’s anyone’s guess as to how the top four seeds will end up. The Patriots are in an interesting position...

Vince Wilfork: Hard to believe Mark Pouncey's only in 2nd year

New England Patriots veteran nose tackle Vince Wilfork has gone head-to-head against Miami Dolphins center Mike Pouncey a few times. It's felt like more.Wilfork will be up against Pouncey, who is now finishing up his second season, when their respective teams square off Sunday.
