President Donna Shalala, donning an orange tie vowed, “Tomorrow is the game where we make the biggest noise that we’ve ever made at a football game in the history of the university.” And the crowd roared. The University of Miami held a student pep rally at The Rock on Foote Green on Friday night before the Hurricanes football team takes on the Florida Gators. The full crowd was entertained by Sebastian the Ibis, the Sunsations, and the Frost Band of the Hour. There was an inflatable alligator that the students tossed around and a gator piñata. The hatred of the Gators was tangible. Brock Berlin spoke.  He led the Hurricanes to a 38-33 comeback win against the Gators ten years ago. “I miss all this,” he reflected. Beating the Gators, “was one of the most memorable experiences of my lifetime.” He told the students, “They’re gonna bring their fans doing their Gator chomp, but you know what we’re gonna do, we’re gonna shut ‘em down, we’re gonna score some points tomorrow, and it’s gonna be all about the U.” And the crowd roared. Shalala asked the kids to get to bed early tonight to be fully energized for the game. “Wear your hats, wear your shirts and drink a lot of water tomorrow that’s from the president.” The post Shalala, Berlin Pump Up Students Before Gator Game appeared first on CaneInsider | Miami Hurricanes Athletics and Recruiting.
