Washington Redskins coach Mike Shanahan on Sunday named newly drafted quarterback Robert Griffin III as the team's starting quarterback. "He's the starter. Period," Shanahan said told the Washington Post.Griffin has participated in five rookie practices during the past three days, concluding the mini-camp Sunday. The Baylor product was selected 10 days ago with the second overall pick in the NFL draft. The Redskins moved up to acquire him by trading first-round picks in 2012, 2013 and 2014 and this year's second round pick. The Redskins also drafted Michigan State quarterback Kirk Cousins, leaving some doubt about who would run the Redskins' offense. Shanahan said Griffin has quickly learned the Redskins' system.
