It was a game that was closer than the Monday Night blowout earlier in the year, but it still wasn't as close as it looks. With hat tricks from both Shane Vereen and Tom Brady (both had 3 TDs) the Patriots defeated the Houston Texans 41-28.The Patriots were up 38-13 in the fourth quarter before the Texans were able to pull within ten. The Patriots recovered an onside kick and were able to take 3:57 off the clock, kick a field goal and give Houston the ball back with 1:14 left in the game.J.J. Watt didn't have as much of an impact once again. He had a half a sack, four tackles and one hit on Tom Brady. The Patriots had some major injuries in this game. Rob Gronkowski is out for the year after re-injuring his forearm (More on that here). Chandler Jones exited the game with an ankle injury in the second quarter and did not return. He injured an ankle earlier in the year and missed two weeks. Danny Woodhead was also injured early in the game and never returned. It was a huge vic...

Vereen, Ridley aid injury-riddled Pats

Tom Brady was shaky early on, Wes Welker had an uncharacteristic drop, and Rob Gronkowski was nursing an injury that kept him from making any sort of impact. But Sunday night's Patriots' 41-28 AFC divisional-round victory over the Texans wasn't exactly a carbon copy of last year's heartbreaking Super Bowl loss to the Giants. Quite the contrary, in fact, as the Patriots...

In his postseason debut, Vereen ran for 41 yards, hauled in five passes for another 83 yards and became just the third Patriots player ever to score three touchdowns in a playoff game —...

NFL Divisional Playoffs thoughts & recap

I had my doubts about the Baltimore Ravens but it certainly appears that they are “peaking” just at the right time heading into the AFC Championship Game this week.

New England, Atlanta Super Bowl is the logical prediction

It may seem a bit like dodging a pair of difficult questions, but a Patriots, Falcons Super Bowl makes too much sense to ignore. The simple justification for such a prediction is that those teams are fielding the best quarterbacks this weekend, but really, there's much more to it than that. While Tom Brady and Matt Ryan may be the best passers this weekend, their defenses...

Wes Welker Has Most to Prove as Tom Brady, Patriots Look to Return to Super Bowl Without Rob Gronkowski

On Sunday afternoon, with Rob Gronkowski and his injured forearm in the locker room and Danny Woodhead having long left the field, Wes Welker was still going.
