Philly Sports Muse:
While the sport of football is itself great, it’s the stories of the men who play the game that intensify our connection to the game.
“Before the Beginning with Chris Polk” is a 20-minute film from Athlete Interactive that chronicles the University of Washington running back’s preparation for the Combine, both physically and emotionally.
Another short film should be made about Polk’s post-Combine experience getting the NFL. One of the best running backs in the country fell out of the draft entirely due to what he says are unfounded rumors about his health. He didn’t miss a game in three years, so the slide and speculation will certainly go down as one of the strangest occurrences of the 2012 draft.
Thankfully for Polk, though, he was snapped up quickly by the Philadelphia Eagles as an undrafted rookie free agent. In an interview with CSNPhilly’s Reuben Frank, Polk talked about the experience of going undrafted. “It was shocking. It was humbling.”
Disappointment is a part of life, an...

The decision by Andy Reid on who will be the No. 2 QB behind Michael Vick could ultimately make or break the Philadelphia Eagles’ 2012 season. Unlike most other football teams, the Eagles must go into the season thinking that their backup quarterback will get some quality playing time.
So, the question is, who will it be? Trent Edwards or Mike Kafka?
Newly drafted rookie QB...
So much to talk about about the Philadelphia Eagles draft selections in 2012, it’s hard to keep it to just writing.
On Tuesday, I visited my friends Roy Burton and Kris Dominigo on The Broad Street Line podcast to talk all things Eagles. We discussed the Asante Samuel trade, spoke extensively about the draft, and talked about what it all means for the Eagles season in 2012.

The 2012 draft is complete, and everyone agrees that the Eagles did a great job this year. Here are a few of the Eagles’ top picks.
Fletcher Cox, DT, Mississippi State (6-4, 298). This pick alone solidified the Eagles’ 2012 draft as a a success in the minds of fans and critics alike. The 12th overall...
Former Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Terrell Owens is going to take his child support woes to a professional on Tuesday when he appears on the “Dr. Phil” show.
The episode, billed “A Football Star’s Daddy Drama,” is described as follows on the show’s website:
Terrell Owens is a six-time NFL pro-bowler and arguably one of the best wide receivers to play the game, but...
The Philadelphia Eagles were looking for Michael Vick to give them an encore of his 2010 performance but the Eagles’ super-talented quarterback was not able to deliver. It was not for a lack of trying though. As a matter of fact Vick could be accused of trying to do too much last season. The Eagles made changes on defense last season which affected their ability to keep their opponents...
I mean this to be as un-insulting as possible, but the 2011 Paper Champions are off to another great start… On paper.
They have been proclaimed by most pundits as the winners of the draft, having gotten the best value, and scooping up falling prospect after falling prospect with little worry about their team’s needs, and worried more about the best player on their board.
Philadelphia Eagles claimed OT Thomas Welch off waivers from the St. Louis Rams several days ago. He joins the backup crew of King Dunlap, D.J. Jones and fifth-round pick Dennis Kelly.
Last year, Welch played in eight games—five for the St. Louis Rams and three for the Patriots. He also spent some of the season on the Buffalo Bills’ practice squad.
Originally, the New England...
Former BYU Cougar and current Philadelphia Eagles offensive lineman Dallas Reynolds was a featured guest in the Total Blue Sports chat room on Sunday night. Here is a chat transcript for those subscribers who weren't able to join.
Happened a little bit ago, but new to me: Eagles offensive lineman Danny Watkins bought his own fire engine, fulfilling the dreams of boys ages 4-7 the world over. Watkins then filmed himself joyriding the truck with the siren running. Even though Watkins has been a occasional firefighter since he was 16, I’m not sure how it’s legal to do that, though I suspect it probably isn’t...
Thanks to Matt Bowen (former NFL safety) for bailing me out today...I was knocking my head against a wall on a story I was researching about the Cleveland Browns' version of Eagles Eye... it's a version of our own Bored called Orange and Brown Report, and it features a guy who fancies himself the voice of reason akin to the leader of our Eagles Bored, the esteemed GK Brizer...
