After trading for the former first-round pick for what essentially amounts to peanuts, the Broncos have a decision to make; Do they stand pat with Kyle Orton, who has gotten as good as he'll ever get, or start Brady Quinn who has an incredibly high ceiling?

It will, of course, come down to who gives them the best chance to win next year, and who gives them the best chance to win in the future. Orton is a restricted free agent, and with Quinn now on board, it seems unlikely that he receives an extension.

He does, however, give them the best chance to win next year and make a playoff push. But that's about it. The Broncos are not legitimate Super Bowl contenders and will really struggle to keep up with the Chargers. The Chiefs have also made themselves better and could be a darkhorse team in 2010.

With all that taken into account, I would start Quinn. He's probably not all that far behind Orton in terms of being able to run Josh McDaniels' offense, and has a much better skill set. He's more mobile, has a better arm, and is just overall more athletic.

Once he works on his decision-making, he'll be the clear-cut best quarterback on that roster.

Quinn should get the start and be allowed to grow with his team. If they pick up some young talent through the draft, they could create a core of guys that, in a few years, could turn the team into a legitimate contender.

Then, at the very worst, the Broncos have one of the best backups in the league in Orton.
