The Steel Pit:
Go back to the Steelers running troubles of a season ago, and
remember that there was a spark led by one player that was able to find
some success where others could not - Mewelde Moore. While watching NFL
Networks replay of last seasons Steelers loss to the Colts, Moore was a
big player that day, rushing for 57 yards and scoring twice.
He had his biggest day of the season in week 8 vs the Bengals, as
with Willie Parker hurt, Moore went off for 120 yards with two
touchdowns. He also ran for 99 yards in the 26-21 win over the Jags on
October 5th, and had 84 yards on 19 carries vs the Giants on October
26th.
His production dropped at the end of the year, and had just five
rushes in the teams three playoff wins. I realize Willie Parker
deserves to be the teams feature back in 2009, but let's remember that
he's a free agent after the season, and Moore will be just 27 years old
on opening night.
Before we start to panic about Parker, or maybe what Rashard
Mendenhall can or can...
