The Oakland Raiders drafted linebacker Sio Moore out of University of Connecticut in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft. Moore finished his college career with a total of 274 tackles, 16 sacks, and four interceptions. He finished his first season with the Raiders with a total of 49 tackles and 4.5 sacks. Raider Nation was really excited to see Moore’s enthusiasm for his new team. Fans will definitely be looking forward to seeing what he can do for the team next season. Moore was born in Liberia and his name Sio is short for Snorsio. He and his family moved to the US when he was a child. He came to the Raiders hungry for knowledge and talks about working closely with Charles Woodson and wanting to learn as much as possible from Woodson. He told Woodson, “I’m bringing a whole notebook and you have to give me the entire cheat sheet.” He has always looked up to Woodson and remembers telling him about watching him get drafted. Moore was seven years old when Woodson was drafted. Moore remembers thinking how surreal it was to him finally being in the NFL. He describes that first moment that he put his jersey and says, ““It was unreal. It was unreal because I was like, ‘Yo, there’s an NFL logo on my shirt.’” Moore has a strong work ethic and, in the preseason, talked of wanting to give 110% on the field. Off the field, he has enjoyed getting involved in the local community with his teammates and working with children. Outside of his passion for football, he harbors a deep love of music. He collects music and really wants to be a DJ. His music tastes are varied and he believes that if you listen to music then you have to listen to all music to really appreciate it. It’s only then that you can really see how the genres have evolved and he feels that is when one can really appreciate music. What does Moore listen to before heading into battle on game day? Phil Collins’ “In the Air Tonight”. Music is not the only thing that Moore collects. He has always been a creature of comfort and was always wearing sweatpants until he got sick of them. He then turned his attention to pajama pants. He doesn’t concern himself with the looks from others and says, “I never really liked to get dressed. I like to be comfortable and I really don’t care if people look at me, like whatever. I like what I like. After awhile, it started with one or two, but then I would try to get new ones and then try to get shoes to match them and everything. That was cool.” His pajama pants range from Ninja Turtles to Sponge Bob to the Avengers. Raider Nation has been one of Moore’s favorite things about being an Oakland Raider. He talks about having never seen passion like the passion that runs deep in the Raider Nation. He talks of the fan base saying, “Like they support everything. It doesn’t matter what it is. I can put a picture on Instagram – it could be of a cat – and they’ll just be like, ‘Raider Nation.’ It’s really cool to see how passionate fans are because not all teams have this fan base.” The fans got Moore very excited when he first got to Oakland. Seeing how much the fans were rooting for the Raiders and how excited they were to have Moore on the team got him wanting to do the right thing. He talks about just wanting to do well on the field to make Raider Nation go crazy. Moore’s dedication has not gone unnoticed. It will be exciting to see what he can do for the Raiders next season. It’s nice to see that these young players coming onto the team wanting to turn things around and do right by the fans. Moore does just that, “I’m here and I’m trying to do everything possible to put myself in the best position to help Raider Nation and the Raiders so that we can get back to the glory days.” You may also be interested in:Sio Moore fits perfectly with Raider NationOakland Raiders could be forced to be on Hard KnocksOakland Raiders reactions to Richard Sherman rant
