They have a son who’s a perennial All-Pro in the NFL, and now a daughter who’s an Olympic-class athlete.
Think the Mangold’s are proud?
On Sunday, Vern and Therese were in attendance to watch their daughter, Holley, compete at the women’s U.S. Olympic weightlifting trials in Columbus, Ohio.
She did it.
”I came up really quickly,” Holley Mangold said. ”I’ve never even been to a World Championship. I knew I had really great competitors I was going against.”
With a swift 145-kilogram clean-and-jerk, Holley, who also played football in high school, made her brother, Nick, proud, clinching the second qualifying spot for the U.S. Weightlifting team in the 2012 Summer Olympics, held in London.
An interesting tidbit: The weight of what she lifted totaled around 320 lbs. Nick, the New York Jets center, is listed at 307 lbs. I think we know who picked on who growing up.
