This is terrible news.
Johnson has left the team to be with his family. Here are the details.
Raiders cornerback Chris Johnson was not with the team Wednesday as he was back in the Dallas area in the wake of a shooting that left his sister dead and his mother wounded.
“Eugene Esters had at one time lived at La Plaza apartment complex off Woodhaven Boulevard with 33-year-old Jennifer Johnson but had been told to move out, according to the report.
Homicide detectives say they believe that Esters had slept in his car Sunday night because he wanted to see his 2 1/2-year-old daughter on Monday.
Shortly after 3 p.m. on Monday, however, Esters had an argument with Johnson and shot the woman several times, the report states.
Johnsons’ mother, 53-year-old Della Johnson, had come to the complex to jump-start her daughter’s car and was also shot by Esters but is expected to survive her injury, police say.
Thoughts and prayers go out to Johnson.
He is expected to be back with the team on Sunday, but it would be understandable if he needed more time. Such a senseless crime.
