I’m aware that small market teams have a tougher time luring players to thier team from free agency but when your having a hard time keeping a guy who is already under contract? Thats entirely the managements fault.
It’s one thing to not have our best player in Chris Johnson be 660 miles away while the Titans training camp is going on, but today Cortland Finnegan didn’t show up for a team meeting due to a contract dispute. He’s due to make 3.7 million in the final year of his contract. Odds are if they don’t show him any love he’ll walk, just like Johnson will. This franchise has been notorious for not ponying up the big bucks, way back to Jon Runyan of our 99 Superbowl run, Javon Kearse, CJ, and now the latest victim seems to be Finnegan.
We need a leader out there on this young team and it’s not gonna help by keeping them out of camp. The big guns have to be in camp to help lead way for the rookies and show that they’re committed. Honestly though, in this league, it’s hard to be if you have no money motivation behind it.
