Based on Madden '10 rankings of the Atlanta Falcons, here is the preliminary starting lineup heading into training camp: (I am putting the starters in the position they play according to Madden; overall rating is included in parenthesis; though I am including some extra player other than just the starters, I am not making arguments against players not mentioned being in contention for starting roles) Offense: QB - Matt Ryan (85), no shocker here. Backups: Chris Redman (55), D.J. Shockley (42) RB - Michael Turner (95), Jerious Norwood (79) FB - Ovie Mughelli (86) TE - Tony Gonzalez (98), Justin Peelle (72) WR - Roddy White (93), Michael Jenkins (79), Harry Douglas (62) C - Todd McClure (78) RG - Harvey Dahl (77) LG - Justin Blalock (73) RT - Tyson Clabo (81) LT - Sam Baker (84) Notes: Tony Gonzalez's 98 is the best rating of any player in the NFC South. Included Norwood, Peelle, and Douglas, as they will all likely be on the field in planned packages. Also included Redman and Shockley, so you can see how underrated both are (though Madden doesn't have much to go on) Defense: RE - John Abraham (95), Chauncey Davis (74) LE - Jamaal Anderson (70) DT - Peria Jerry (78), Jonathan Babineaux (73) MLB - Curtis Lofton (80) LOLB - Mike Peterson (80), Stephen Nicholas (66) ROLB - Coy Wire (59) CB - Chris Houston (75), Chevis Jackson (73), Von Hutchins (69) FS - Erik Coleman (78), William Moore (75) SS - Thomas DeCoud (64) Notes: Included Davis, because he will likely be in competition for the starting LE position. Included both Moore and Coleman in FS, as that's where Madden has them listed, though they are likely not in competition for the same position. Coleman will more likely be fit into SS, and DeCoud and Moore will battle over FS. Included Nicholas, because, though he is listed as LOLB, he will likely be battling for the opposite end against Wire. Hutchins, according to Madden, would appear in nickel packages. Kicking: K - Jason Elam (92) P - Michael Koenen (80) Notes: No love for Koenen's record setting 2009 season??
