This Given Sunday:
News travels fast on Twitter. Sometimes faster than the people in those news stories themselves.
Adam Schefter, who has more flies on more walls than anyone else in the NFL reporting game, tweeted this evening: "Buffalo Bills and WR Stevie Johnson are on the verge of a five-year contract that is likely to be completed in the next 24 hours." The usual influx of cCongratulatory tweets, snide comments and the like came flooding in.
Cue Stevie Johnson's response, twenty minutes later:
Unless Schefter is unusually misinformed, Stevie's first check-in on Twitter on an otherwise lazy Sunday just gave him a pretty nice surprise. It also answers Buffalo's burning question this offseason.

File this one under: “You know it’s the offseason when…”
Ever wondered what Adam Schefter looked like before the Blackberry’s and breaking NFL news? Back when he was just Adam Schefter, the teenager?
Well, as odd as it is, your wish has come true.
In all its glory, here is a vintage photo, snatched (by yours truly) from a promo video for John F. Kennedy High School in Bellmore...
As first reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Twitter, the Buffalo Bills and emerging star receiver Stevie Johnson are closing in a 5-year deal that is expected to be finalized within the next 24 hours.

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Stevie Johnson agreed to a five-year deal on Monday, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported, citing a league source.
Financial terms were not disclosed, but the contract enables the Bills to avoid using the franchise tag on Johnson.
The 25-year-old Johnson had a team-leading 76 catches for 1,004 yards and seven touchdowns to become the Bills' first receiver...
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Buffalo Bills and wide receiver Stevie Johnson have agreed on a new five-year $36.2 million deal, with $19.5 million guaranteed. He’ll also be paid $24 million in the first three years of the contract.
The Broncos had until Monday to reach a new contract with kicker Matt Prater, or slap him with a franchise tag. According to ESPN‘s Adam Schefter, the tag will come today.
The tag is a one-year deal worth $2.6 million and prevents Prater from being able to sign elsewhere in free agency while freeing the Broncos from a big money, long-term deal. Prater is now likely to receive...
The Bills didn't disclose terms of the agreement, but a league source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter that Johnson received a five-year, $36.25 million deal that includes $19.5 million guaranteed and over $24 million in the contract's first three years.
The Browns search for a free agent wide receiver is suffering greatly in the lead-up to free agency. DeSean Jackson was franchised last week and according to Adam Schefter and ProFootballTalk Bills receiver Stevie Johnson won’t be available either signing for five years and $36.25 million.
Per Schefter, the contract guarantees Johnson $19.5 million and calls for Johnson to receive...
We already know that free agent receiver Randy Moss is scheduled to meet with the New Orleans Saints today. Now it looks like he also has two other visits lined up, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter via Evan Silva.
At this point we don’t know who the two teams are that Moss will meet with. All we know is that they’re both scheduled for next week.
But it is clear that Moss...
Rest easy Bills fans, Stevie Johnson isn’t going anywhere. As I have been preaching for months now about him remaining a Bill, it looks as if it will become official tomorrow: Stevie Johnson will re-sign with Buffalo. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the contract is rumored to be for five-years. Johnson and the Bills have been meeting often over the past two weeks in hopes...
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter via Evan Silva, it looks like wide receiver Marques Colston won’t be back with the New Orleans Saints in 2012.
“Somebody that looks like he’ll be moving on from N.O. … Colston looks like he will not return,” said Schefter per Silva.
Along with Vincent Jackson, Colston will be one of the most heavily pursued free agent receivers on the...
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Atlanta Falcons have signed safety Thomas DeCoud to a new five-year $17.5 million contract with $4 million guaranteed.
DeCoud had a very good season in 2011 with 86 tackles and 4 interceptions while helping the Falcons get into the playoffs for the third time in four years.
It was something of a punchline among other NFL fans that the Cleveland Browns decided to use their franchise tag on Phil Dawson… last year. This year, when they did it again many scoffed again because the Browns seemingly didn’t have any “real football players” worth franchising. Even as a Cleveland fans who loves Phil Dawson, I kind of get it even if the truth is the Browns...
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Houston Texans have signed running back Arian Foster to a five-year extension.
Foster will make a total of $43.5 million over five years, with $20.75 guaranteed, $40 million in the first three years of the contract and $18 million in 2012.
Foster tore apart the NFL in 2010 and quickly became one of the NFL premiere running backs. He had...
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Tennessee Titans have officially placed their franchise tag on safety Michael Griffin.
This means cornerback Cortland Finnegan will become a free agent and likely sign elsewhere.
