New Orleans, meet Ndamukong Suh. The Superdome still hasn't seen the Lions' star defensive tackle. He missed the 31-17 loss to the Saints last month while serving the first of his two-game suspension by the NFL for stomping on Green Bay's Evan Dietrich-Smith.

Detroit Lions running back Kevin Smith and tight end Tony Scheffler have collided at practice.
Smith was coming out of the end zone and Scheffler was running a route toward the same end zone when they hit each other hard Wednesday.
The 6-foot-5, 255-pound Scheffler got up relatively quickly and rolled his neck as he walked back toward the middle of the field.

Lions coach Jim Schwartz faces the challenge of getting his team turned in the right direction.
The Detroit Lions had a great 2011. They finished the season with a 10-6 record and made the playoffs for the first time since 1999.
Detroit wont, however, remember the first day of 2012 very fondly. The Lions lost to the Packers 45-41 on Sunday, but had a couple of tough calls go against them that clearly could have made a difference in the outcome.
The most damaging was a play...
Calvin Johnson Receiving yards Sunday, giving him 1,681 for the season, five shy of Herman Moore's 1995 team record. But he is the first Lions receiver with two 200-yard days and extended his team record with his 16th TD catch. Ndamukong Suh
The Lions and Saints will put two of the NFL's highest-scoring offenses on the field in Saturday's wild-card playoff game in New Orleans. But with everything riding on one game, teams can be more conservative in the playoffs. Lions coach Jim Schwartz wouldn't go so far as to say playoff teams are conservative, but he also didn't say he expected any shoot-outs.
GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Packers tight end Jermichael Finley believes that Sunday's 45-41 win over Lions without Aaron Rodgers and other key starters playing will send Detroit into the playoffs "with a little limp." But Finley almost left the game with more than a little limp.
A play by Lions defensive end Cliff Avril had Finley questioning the motivations of Detroit'...
The Detroit Lions will enter Saturday night's post-season tilt at New Orleans in good health.
The Lions and Saints will meet for the second time this season at 8 p.m. ET on Saturday, January 7.
Spags is my #1 choice for the next Lions head coach--and he ought to be yours, too. That was the closing line of my fifth post ever, the "To Whom it May Concern" for Steve Spagnuolo. I tagged him “Candidate 1A,” thanks to his impressive track record of coaching up defensive backs and harnessing pass-rushing talent. He also had experience in player personnel, making...
Running back Kevin Smith limped off the field after colliding with tight end Tony Scheffler in Wednesday's practice, according to Paula Pasche of the Oakland Press.
Smith recently battled a sprained ankle and apparently now has another injury to deal with while Detroit gears up for their playoff match-up at New Orleans.
Their first game, a 31-17 victory by the Saints, featured explosive QBs (Drew Brees threw for 342 yards while Matthew Stafford had 408) and tempers (Detroit was penalized 11 times).
