State of the Texans:
As the first week of practice winded down, starting Houston Texans outside linebacker Brooks Reed took some time out to talk to us and how camp has been going for him.
The day before this interview J.J. Watt dislocated his elbow and he talked about how thankful it was just an elbow. Also we covered his relationship with Connor Barwin, how OTAs have already helped him at camp and the Whitney Mercilus’ addition to the linebackers.

This past weekend we caught up with Houston Texans starting corner back Kareem Jackson, who was anxious to return to practice with his then healing hamstring.
We talked about expectations for the 3 year starter for the Texans and how Vance Joseph and Johnathan Joseph have helped him as a player. Jackson knows it is a big season for him, and the Texans in 2012, see what he had...
The second week of training camp is under way and with majority of the team at full strength, the Houston Texans have a competitive roster out on the field right now. It has been a sight to see the work these players have put in out on the field. With majority of the team already set, there are a handful of positions that are open for the taking.
There have been plenty of bright...
After Wednesday’s practice we had a chance to talk to quarterback John Beck, and it was a great experience to sit and pick the mind of this 6 year pro.
Beck let us into his transition from Washington to Houston and how much he has to work to get Kubiak’s offense, also he said how great it was to be in a situation building off from last season, and he also let us know how important...
Out at training camp today, at the half way point of “game week”, the Houston Texans were working hard today despite the rising temperature as practice continued. Plenty of small notes to pass around today from camp.

HOUSTON No matter how all of this ends for Brandon Harris, whether he earns his keep as a rotation cornerback for the Texans or drifts into the abyss as an unfulfilled second-round pick from the 2011 draft, his maturity shown during occupational adversity can't be marginalized.

The final practice before today’s day off was another positive step forward for the Houston Texans in their continued preparation for the upcoming season. Another display of improvement kept the day interesting, particularly in team segments of practice where the offense and defense compete head to head. To this point, the competition between the two units has been fairly equal...
Gary Kubiak and the Houston Texans aren’t throwing caution to the wind with Andre Johnson.
Johnson returned to the field on Monday eight days after suffering a groin injury in practice.
Coach Kubiak said the team will be using its star wide receiver sparingly, at least for now.
“We put a play count on him, so we’re going to do that as the week goes on,” Kubiak said, in comments...
Texans coach Gary Kubiak must choose a kicker during training camp, and for a team with Super Bowl aspirations that could be a pivotal decision.
Houston drafted Lou Groza winner Randy Bullock in the fifth round, then signed veteran Shayne Graham to challenge Bullock for the job. Kubiak is looking for a replacement for Neil Rackers, who signed with Washington in the offseason. Rackers...
Matt Schaub overall is a very good quarterback.
Schaub led the Houston Texans to a very good 10-6 record last season, but unfortunately, Matt missed most of the season because of an injury. Schaub had a pretty good season last year, ending the season with an impressive qb rating of 96.8 and completion percentage of 61.0.

A person with direct knowledge of the deal says the Houston Texans have agreed to a new contract with left tackle Duane Brown.
The person spoke on condition of anonymity Thursday because the deal had not been announced.
The 6-foot-4, 320-pound Brown has started all but four games since the Texans drafted him with the 26th overall pick in 2008. Brown earned Associated Press All...
According to John McClain of the Houston Chronicle, Texans wide receiver Andre Johnson was back on the practice field on Monday after dealing with a groin injury that’s kept him on the sideline.
As of right now, I don’t know if the Texans will have Johnson play in this week’s preseason opener. They may choose to take things slow with him to avoid any potential...
After the first nine days of training camp, the Houston Texans’ coaches have finally updated their depth chart to reflect the progress of the team and the individual players. The official list can be found on the team’s website here, recreated below.
According to KHOU.com, Houston Texans linebacker Brian Cushing was hospitalized overnight for a minor illness.
“Houston Texans linebacker Brian Cushing spent the night in the hospital with a virus the team describes as “minor.”
“Cushing became ill Tuesday night and Coach Gary Kubiak said they decided to put him in the hospital, instead of sending him home,” wrote...
