A person familiar with discussions has confirmed that star pass-rushing defensive end Mario Williams will visit with the Bills in Buffalo on the first day of NFL free agency.
ESPN first reported Williams' scheduled visit with Buffalo earlier on Tuesday.
The Associated Press learned of the visit from a person who spoke on the condition of anonymity because talks are ongoing.
Williams was the top pick in the 2006 draft by the Houston Texans, who elected against re-signing him this offseason. A two-time Pro Bowl starter, Williams has 53 sacks in six seasons, but was limited to playing just five games last season as a result of a torn chest muscle.
The Bills, coming off a 6-10 finish, pegged improving their pass rush as one of their top offseason priorities.

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) -- The Buffalo Bills have scheduled a news conference for Thursday afternoon, where they're expected to announce the signing of star free-agent defensive end Mario Williams.
ESPN reported that Williams had agreed to a six-year contract. The sides had been making steady progress through three days of negotiations.
Williams is at the team's facility...
Headed into free agency this off-season, defensive end Mario Williams figured to be one of the most highly sought after players available. And until quarterback Peyton Manning jumped in head first, that’s exactly the way it would have played out.
Still, Williams isn’t likely to find himself searching for suitors, and multiple sources have indicated that the first stop on his...
The Buffalo Bills promised to get a deal done. They didn't lie as the Bills and defensive end Mario Williams agree to terms on a six-year deal that could potentially be $100 million with $50 million guaranteed. This would be the biggest contract ever awarded to a defensive player.
The Bills defense will get an immediate boost with the signing. Williams saw his season end early...
The Buffalo Bills set their sights on securing the biggest defensive free agent on the market and have achieved their goal by landing LB/DE Mario Williams. Adam Schefter reports the deal is for six years, $100 mil with $50 mil guaranteed. Williams missed 11 games in 2011 after suffering a torn pectoral muscle. When healthy, Williams is [...]

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Williams has signed a 6-year deal with the Bills worth up to 100 Million, with 50 Million guaranteed. Before being hampered by injuries last year, Williams was one of the best DE’s in the league. The former first pick in the 2006 draft has...
UPDATE: The Washington Redskins have signed safety Brandon Meriweather. So, the New York Jets have been saved from themselves there. Look for them to make an aggressive push for Reggie Nelson.
In case you haven’t heard the Buffalo Bills have signed Mario Williams to a monster contract today. Williams is one of the league’s top pass rushers. I don’t believe in making reactionary...
I've been wrong multiple times in my life.
I was probably wrong in thinking I would have constant work in TV when I came to NYC. I was wrong when I thought Trent Edwards was a franchise QB. I was wrong when I thought putting blond streaks in my hair would look good at the age of 16. I was wrong when I thought this or that girl liked me. For all my wrongs, I hated to admit...
Noteworthy is that 87 of those 438 free agents (19.9 percent) have played at least 10 seasons. Assuming Peyton Manning is signed by Tuesday afternoon, who (other than Houston's Mario Williams) makes NFL insider Howard Balzer's list?
I have to say, I'm fricken exhausted. From refreshing my Twitter feed to listening to WGR, I'm mentally fried. I just want Mario to either sign or move on. My life has come to a complete halt because of this. I need to move on! This process was fun from 4pm-8pm yesterday, but now, the talk is becoming unbearable. I'm ready for a news station to interview someone from...
The Houston Texans are quickly finding out how easy it is to go from the hunter to the hunted.
In a move that surprised no one that pays attention to a little thing called the salary cap, they have lost star defensive end/outside linebacker Mario Williams to the Buffalo Bills in free agency. A rumored six year deal costing $100 million with half of it guaranteed....
