Found October 15, 2012 on Fox Sports:
Free-agent linebacker Shawne Merriman has agreed to a deal to return to the Buffalo Bills, FOXSports.com has learned. The Bills brought Merriman in for a workout on Monday as they were searching for someone to take the place of defensive end Mark Anderson, who is currently out with a knee injury. Merriman did play some defensive end during his first stint in Buffalo, which ended when he was released on Aug. 20. Merriman, who originally came to the Bills in 2010, dealt with multiple major injuries over two seasons with the team. He previously starred for the San Diego Chargers from 2005-10, garnering several accolades along the way. He was named the AP NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2005, was selected to the Pro Bowl three times and was a three-time All-Pro.

Buffalo Bills Bring Back LB Shawne Merriman - With defensive end…

Buffalo Bills Bring Back LB Shawne Merriman - With defensive end Mark Anderson out indefinitely with a knee injury, the Bills are bringing back Shawne Merriman, whom they cut earlier this year. Merriman didn’t necessarily look like he had a lot left when they released him in August, and he said he was waiting for a team that played a 3-4 defense to call. So either the Bills have...

Report: Shawne Merriman Signs With Bills as Buffalo Desperately Tries to Shore Up Defense

The Buffalo Bills knew something had to happen after posting back-to-back weeks of some of the worst defensive performances in NFL history. Signing a retread who couldn't make the cut in training camp may not be it, but it's certainly a start. Shawne Merriman, who was cut coming out of camp despite saying he was in the best shape in years, is reportedly...

Former Florida State standout LB will start this week for Buffalo versus Cardinals

Earlier this week, I reported that I was hearing numerous reports coming out of Buffalo that Bills SLB Nigel Bradham will start in Week 6 against the Cardinals. Well ladies and gentlemen it is now official. Bradham replaces Arthur Moats in the Bills’ base defense. The fourth-round pick out of Florida State took most of the snaps in Buffalo’s Week 5 loss to the 49ers, and recorded...

Buffalo Bills re-sign Shawne Merriman, Delano Howell

Shawne Merriman has been given what might be his final chance at an NFL revival by the Buffalo Bills, who signed the defensive end Monday. Merriman had been released by the Bills this preseason after 1 1/2 ineffective seasons in Buffalo. He was playing with the third-string unit in preseason games and still barely making a mark, a far cry from the "Lights Out" days when...

Buffalo Bills show 'mental toughness' in OT win over Cardinals

For the past two weeks the Buffalo Bills have been scrutinized for their lack of defensive effort and not having the mental toughness to overcome obstacles that may arise during a game. The Bills responded to that scrutiny Sunday with a 19-16 overtime win against the Arizona Cardinals. Buffalo had the game in hand late in the fourth quarter until a suspect play call resulted in a...

Fred Jackson Getting Stronger

Buffalo running back Fred Jackson played without the knee brace last Sunday, according to Chris Brown of buffalobills.com. Jackson rushed for 53 yards and a score on 16 carries and caught five balls for 30 yards.Fantasy Spin:Jackson isn't quite back to 100 percent, but he's getting close. The real problem for fantasy owners, however, is that C.J. Spiller (league-leading 7...

Field Goals on beating the Titans

The Bills at 3-3 aren’t the same as the Patriots at 3-3. In fact, it is hard to believe that the Bills have arrived at the same record as the team that rolled them only two weeks ago. However, sports are more about the destination, not the journey. So far the destination for the Bills is the exact same as a number of teams who, on paper, would likely be considered vastly superior...

GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) -- Jairus Byrd's second interception of the game set up Rian Lindell's 25-yard field goal 3:50 into overtime that gave the Buffalo Bills a 19-16 victory over the Cardinals on Sunday. The loss ended Arizona's eight-game home winning streak. Byrd picked off a pass from John Skelton, who had replaced the injured Kevin Kolb, and returned it 29 yards...

Buffalo beats Cardinals at their own wacky game

These are the games Arizona wins at home, with a frantic flourish at the finish to erase what seemed to be certain defeat. This time, the Buffalo Bills turned the tables, and beat the Cardinals at their own wacky game. The Bills' 19-16 overtime victory was a measure of redemption for a team reeling from two awful defeats. They reset their psyche by practicing in Arizona instead...

Buffalo Bills at Arizona Cardinals: Five Things We Learned

Statistic of the Week: 4.78

Joe has given me the opportunity to write a weekly piece here at Buffalo Wins and I’d like to thank him for that. The weekly piece will likely come every Monday morning and essentially revolve around one statistic that I feel is central to the team’s performance that week, or over the past few weeks, positive or negative. Given the bizarre (to put it nicely) nature of this...
