When Steve Spagnuolo took over as New Orleans defensive coordinator this year, he brought a philosophy that it is good to ask players to do things they've never done, as long as he believes they can do it.
Spagnuolo's fresh look at personnel already has led to a handful of conspicuous changes.
There was the move of linebacker Martez Wilson to defensive end, giving New Orleans an additional speed rusher off the edge as well as someone who could drop into pass coverage from that position. Spagnuolo also is experimenting with shifting defensive ends such as Cameron Jordan to the interior line on third downs to add more speed to the pass rush.
Spagnuolo says such experimentation in training camp is ''part of coaching and doing it right.''
