Monday morning's practice in Napa saw quite a few dropped passes by receivers trying to reel in JaMarcus Russell bullets.
Short over-the-middle passes to receivers were pretty consistently pinging off the receivers' hands, with the ball appearing to be moving extremely fast. When running backs came under for those same short passes later in the morning session, there was far less pace on the ball and the RB's reeled in most every pass.
Though he clearly does not have Russell's arm strength, Andrew Walter has a more consistent tempo to those short passes to receivers and RB's alike, resulting in fewer drops in Monday morning's practice.
-- CB Darrick Brown had one of the morning session's standout plays as he went up and over WR Jonathan Holland, wrestling the ball away for an INT on a Russell deep pass.
-- No matter how hard a practice might be, there's still time for a bit of fun with those lucky enough to be invited in to a Raiders practice. LB Grant Irons was all-out on a play, taking him across the sidelines and right over to a mom holding a toddler. A quick pat on the head from Irons and the boy was all smiles at the massive (6-6, 285) piece of humanity that was toying with him.
