Imagine you’re Carolina Panthers running back Jonathan Stewart, chilling at home as you convalesce following ankle surgery when you happen upon a tweet from a fan who says he’s praying for your recovery. Sure you think nothing of it until you scan the image uploaded along with the well-wisher’s tweet and realize that the reason the fan is praying for you is that he thinks you have cancer, because that’s what the Sporting News had Stewart listed as on the Panthers injury report. Talk about awkward. Stewart, who obviously does not have cancer, quickly tweeted back to the fan in question, @DaveyJE24, that the Sporting News’ report was an outright lie, then followed that up with a tweet of his own reassuring his fans (and potential fantasy football owners) that he was indeed cancer free. Here’s the Twitter exchange… @Jonathanstewar1 didn't realize you were sick. We will be praying for you. #Panthers #KeepPounding pic.twitter.com/1WhjD6x0QC — Davey © (@DaveyJE24) June 24, 2013 And h...

Are the Carolina Panthers overconfident...again?

Maybe it's a Ron Rivera thing, because the Carolina Panthers certainly didn't possess this much bravado under John Fox.   One year ago, Panthers center Ryan Kalil took out a full-page ad in a local paper in order to guarantee a Super Bowl victory. Carolina went on to finish 7-9, only one game better than in the previous season, and Kalil made sure to stay out of the...

Mike Shula to Cam Newton: run smarter

Carolina Panthers offensive coordinator Mike Shula wants quarterback Cam Newton to reign it in a bit in the run department. The dual threat QB needs to make better decisions when running with the ball, Shula feels. “In this run/read offense, there are decisions he makes with the option,” Shula said, via Dan Pompeii of the National Football Post. “Don’t make decisions where...
