Introduction Football is a game of parity. A team sees an average change of 3 wins per season in either direction and teams that have big improvements on average regress about half of that the following season and vice versa. The Rams have been doing quite a bit of bouncing around in the past few years, going from 1 win to 7 wins to 2 wins to 7 wins and a tie. Unfortunately, they haven’t been able to bounce into the playoffs at any point and if history is any indication, they are due to bounce back down, at least a little bit. There were a couple unsustainable things that led to the Rams’ win improvement last season. They were 6th in the league in adjusted games lost, meaning they had significantly fewer injuries than the league average. This was a season after they ranked dead last in that category in 2011. They also exceeded their Pythagorean Expectations by a whole win (assuming a half win for the tie) as they were outscored by 49 points on the season and had a Pythagorean Expect...

Rams release guard Watkins

ST. LOUIS -- The St. Louis Rams released offensive guard Rokevious Watkins on the eve of the first full-squad workout of training camp. The 338-pound Watkins was a fifth-round pick last year and played in one game in his rookie season before going on injured reserve with an ankle injury. He had been suspended without pay for this year's opener for violating the NFL's substance...

Handful of Rams veterans can commute to camp

ST. LOUIS -- Coach Jeff Fisher gave St. Louis Rams rookies something to shoot for before they hit the field for the first time: Four-year veterans can commute to training camp. St. Louis Rams Waive Rokevious Watkins

Guard Rokevious Watkins was waived by the St. Louis Rams after struggling with weight issues and an impending suspension by the NFL for substance abuse. The former fifth-round pick in 2012 showed up to training camp out of shape and most likely has seen his last day in a St. Louis uniform. Expect Chris Williams (left guard) and Harvey Dahl (right guard) to be the starting offensive...

Fisher counting on Rams kids again

ST. LOUIS -- Working with kids last year suited a refreshed Jeff Fisher, back from a one-year break from coaching with the youngest team in the NFL. One of the most improved, too. Another influx of youth, fueled by the Robert Griffin III deal, could be what the St. Louis Rams need to post the franchise's first winning record in a decade. Perhaps compete for a playoff spot, too...

Rams rookie lineman waits patiently to get on field

ST. LOUIS -- When Rams rookie Barrett Jones played in the BCS Championship Game with torn ligaments in his left foot, he knew surgery that could curtail his preparation for the NFL draft would be required. It didn't matter. With the chance to help Alabama win its third national championship in his four years, sitting out against Notre Dame was as likely as a transfer to Auburn...
