San Francisco 49ers
St. Louis Rams
Surprises arise every week in the National Football League. It was no different Sunday, as upsets were abound and teams played out of their character.Coming off the bye week with a home game against a losing team, the San Francisco 49ers were set to route an outmatched divisional rival. Guess again! While the Rams clearly entered Candlestick Park ready to play, the Niners started about thirty minutes later. The Niners eventually fought back to lead in the fourth, force overtime with a chance to win. After a David Akers missed the potential winning field goal, the two teams battled to 24-24 overtime tie. Here’s what we learned:1. Barring any odd occurrences, St. Louis will eventually become a factor in the NFC. Despite the score, the Rams are not ready to challenge for a playoff spot or the division. Jeff Fisher’s group is on their way. Sam Bradford, Danny Amendola, Robert Quinn, Chris Long and James Laurinaitis represent a solid foundation. The two first-round picks from the 2012 dra...

St. Louis Rams announced that cornerback Janoris Jenkins and wide receiver Chris Givens are inactive for Sunday's game against the host San Francisco 49ers because they violated team rules. The Rams did not specify what rules the rookies broke. Jenkins, a second round draft pick in the June draft, had started all eight previous games for St. Louis this year. Givens, who...

“(He’s) doing much better, had a good night’s sleep last night,” coach Jim Harbaugh said Monday, via CSN Bay Area. “And symptoms are positive today. He’s visiting with a neurologist later this afternoon.”

The St. Louis Rams and San Francisco 49ers played the NFL's first tie game in four years as both team's kickers missed overtime field goals Sunday.
Greg Zuerlein kicked a 53-yarder, but the Rams were penalized 5 yards for delay of game. He tried again from 58 as coach Jeff Fisher played for the win, and missed wide right with 2:42 left in OT.
San Francisco's David Akers...
Danny Amendola's first game in a month for the St. Louis Rams was a huge success. And that's without the 142 yards on a pair of big plays that were nullified by penalty.
A day after repeated mistakes cost the Rams an upset at San Francisco, the wide receiver said he'd try to take the positives out the NFL's first tie game in four years.
Easy to say, hard to swallow...
Quarterbacks are dropping like flies on Sunday.
First Michael Vick was ruled out of the Cowboys-Eagles game with a concussion, and now the same has happened to 49ers’ signal caller Alex Smith. Smith was scrambling when he took a vicious blow from Rams’ linebacker Jo-Lonn Dunbar.
The 49ers could struggle without Smith after building their offense around him. Second-year player...
Yesterday, the San Francisco 49ers and the St. Louis Rams game ended in a 24-24 tie, the first since 2008.
While most NFL fans knew the possibility that the game could end in a tie, it appears that 49ers safety Dashon Goldson and Rams wide receiver Danny Amendola weren't aware of that fact:
“I didn’t know you could tie,” Goldson said, per Cam Inman. “When I saw...
In some ways, watching game film of the Rams vs the 49ers is an absolute joy, to see a team execute its gameplan to perfection. In others, that same film is agony to watch. Most of the latter moments came on defense, which had a very uneven performance and put our offense behind the 8-ball throughout the second half.
We'll write up examples of things the Rams did well in...
49ers quarterback Alex Smith suffered a concussion during the first half of Sunday's game against the St. Louis Rams and will not return, the team announced.
Smith was shaken up on a hit by Rams outside linebacker Jo-Lonn Dunbar during a four-yard run in the first quarter.
The 49ers medical staff evaluated Smith as he sat on the bench with his head down in the second quarter...
Randy Moss‘ comeback to the NFL via the San Francisco 49ers hasn’t yielded the mind-boggling numbers that Moss put up during his heyday in Minnesota and New England. So far this season, Moss has 13 receptions for 235 yards and two touchdowns for the 6-2 Niners.
But regardless of his play, Moss has never been afraid to speak his mind. On Sunday, Moss took part in an interview...
Running back Frank Gore was clearly aching after the 49ers' 24-24 tie against the St. Louis Rams on Sunday.
Gore, who sustained bruised ribs Oct. 18 against the Seattle Seahawks, underwent X-rays after the game. He was getting around gingerly as he got dressed at his locker, about an hour after the game.
"Just sore," he said, speaking slowly and in obvious discomfort...
