Photo by Tim Heitman/ USA TODAY SportsFor the past few years the Jacksonville Jaguars (0-4) and St. Louis Rams (1-3) have had similar records. This year both teams are hanging out near the bottom of the standings once again. The two organizations have had their flashes of success every so often, but it is just that, a flash. This Sunday the Jaguars will travel to the Edward Jones Dome to face the Rams. This is a game not many people will be dialed into, as both teams have big holes to fill. The Rams made a lot of moves this offseason in order to improve the weapons surrounding quarterback Sam Bradford. Although most of the moves made were for the better of the team, one move decapitated the Rams; the departure of Steven Jackson. I do believe it was the right move to make, but St. Louis did nothing to improve the running game. Last season Daryl Richardson was a spark on offense, but he didn’t have to carry the load. As the starter this season, defenses have been able to shut him down and hold him for 114-yards. If the Rams plan on getting a running game going, it has to be against the Jaguars as they are ranked last on rush defense. Richardson sent out a tweet earlier this week saying he will not be the starter against the Jaguars. This could be a good opportunity for rookies like Benny Cunningham and Zac Stacy to showcase their talents. If the Rams do get a running game going against the Jags, it will open up the offense. Bradford has started the season as best he could given his circumstances. Once again the offensive line cannot keep Bradford upright and the receivers cannot shake the defenders. When the receivers do manage to get open, they drop the ball. Going up against the 23rd ranked defense could favor the Rams skill players. Although the Jaguars defense is only one spot ahead of the Rams, the Rams offense scores 10 more points then their counterpart. This could be one of the closest games this weekend as both teams are evenly matched up. The Rams have a tough schedule ahead of them after this game so they need to take advantage of every game they can as they do not have many “gimmie” games this year. The Rams should be able to win this game, if anything a loss would tell us more about the team then a win.
