Buried at the end of Jim Thomas’ column in the St. Louis Patch-Dispatch about the Rams’ rookie kicker Greg Zuerlein and rookie punter Johnny Hekker is a nugget that sadly sums up Tim Tebow’s season. Here it is in all of its sad glory. An added bonus from Hekker was his prowess on trick plays. As Zuerlein’s holder, he threw a touchdown pass in the first Seattle game. He also completed two passes on fake punts Nov. 11 in San Francisco, helping the Rams earn a 24-24 overtime tie. “It was awesome,” Hekker said. “Being a specialist, you love to contribute any way that you can. And me being able to throw the ball, as an old quarterback it’s kind of like reliving the glory days.” In the believe-it-or-not category, Hekker’s 42 yards passing on three completions in three attempts gave him more passing yards this season than Tim Tebow, who completed six of eight for 39 yards for the New York Jets. “Oh man, I feel bad for Tim Tebow to be honest,” Hekker said. We do too, Johnny. We do too. The pos

  • PATHETIC! really PATHETIC!
  • i dont believe they have given tim tebow a fair shake he is a good quarter back and leader you have to play him in order for him or anyone else in that position to run up any number or stats he is a class act honest trust worthy hard and dedacated player plus he gives credit to his creator GOD almighty i think they should thank god they have him there play play and ill say it again play him give him a fair chance then you will see the real TEBOW AGREAT QUARTER BACK PLAY HIM WHAT ARE THEY SCARED OF
  • I think your right bird 819, this has nothing to do with religion with what I'm about to say. My question is, why did they even bring him in? I could not understand the signing of Tebow, and I cannot understand it to this day. Do some of you think it was a PR thing? Would somebody please explain to me why they did it? I live in the Seattle area and have been a Seahawk fan since the beginning, and I have seen alot of interesting signings over the decades, but the Tebow signing has been a real head scratcher to me. I'm just glad my team was not involved. Would someone please tell me why they pulled such a move?
  • I totally agree with you. He's a great quaterback and a good man. They should thank thier luck stars that they have him and anybody that gets him and makes him their starter, they will see how good he is when given the chance to play.
  • Tebow would be a great QB but need to fire Rex Ryan today
  • You've GOT to be kidding! "What are they scared of"....????Well, they're NOT scared of winning, and they ARE scared of losing. If Tebow really was the quality quarterback his college fans believe, the Jets would've used him in a flash. These people are professionals, and to them NOTHING trumps winning. Coaches lose their jobs when the team doesn't win, so it's to their benefit to use the best players they have as much as they can.

Tebow's signing wasn't about football; it was a publicity stunt pure and simple, aimed at putting fannies in the seats. Watching video of him play, they KNEW he wasn't an NFL-quality QB. He throws almost sidearm, so he can't even get the ball out of the pocket (over 6'5" & 6'7" linemen), and since he can only pass rolling out, opponents rush him from the sides to keep him in the pocket. Tebow's college reputation was built around facing opponents who had maybe two or three NFL-quality defenders each. In the NFL, every opponent has a full team of NFL-quality defenders.
  • Adrien Peterson for MVP!!!!!!!
  • who the hell is Tim Tebow?
  • What planet are you living on?????? no football there??????
  • get off this site you idiot!
  • In order to have stats you ahve to play! The comparison is stupid. Irrelevant. Ryan is a fat joke. He went with Sanchez, he blew it, he should be fired. NY won't do any better next year. Ryan is where the buck stops.
  • Tebow is unconventional, but he wins. May have been wise in NY to try the man out.
  • on second thought the longer i sit here and think about it tim is too good for new york u guys needs to trade him get rid of him let a better team have him then later on they can come back with tebow leading them and put a smackdown on the jets thats what i would love GO TEBOW GOD BLESS YOU FOR A LONG CAREER YOU HAVE YOUR HEAD ON RIGHT
  • why are so many people jealous of tebow?
  • More than anything else, it showed the Rams at least had some ideas. Can't say that about the J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS.
  • Really! let up on Tim! Give the kid a chance after all he did bring his team last year all the way to the play offs!
  • Once again in front of my face is another NEGATIVE article about somebody who just tries to play a game and make a living for himself and family. This man has worked his tail off to be where he is at. It sickens me that a writer/press has nothing better to do with their time but to down grade an individual and make him into a joke. You people need to look at yourselves in the mirror and see who the joke is. And we all wonder why the world is crumbling at our feet. Be productive and positive, and leave these good people alone.
  • and the writer of this story is a better writer than Ernest Hemingway
  • The reason tebo didn't play was because sanchez was giving ryan the dirty sanchez.
  • I totally agree, give Tim Tebow a chance, Denver should of kept him as their ist string, incase Manning got hurt, Having 4 neck surgeries is dangerous. I know I have a daughter who had 4 neck surgeries and now is disabled. He is a great quarterback.
  • I could come up with a few things that could defined Tim but the most telling issue is the crew he played with. Where it seemed that they would have lined up against him rather than play with him when he was put in the game. Where it seems Greg was a wanted member of his team.

But the real telling story about this article/blurb is that this writer has such a dislike for Tim and/or his faith, that he takes the time to find such an insignificant fact/stat just to try to be-little Tim. If the writer had any self esteem or thought much of them-self they could and would find something to write about that had some value. Because my belief is that Tim Tebow knows he will be the one standing when it all shakes out.

So they need to grow up or find another line of work that will suit their personality.
  • WHY IS BONEHEAD EXEMPT FROM EARNING A STARTING JOB?
  • ryans the jets down fall not tebow.
  • This wasnt about Tim Tebow's ability, It was about keeping him on the bench. Ask yourself why?
  • I would pay money to see Tim Tebow play .Wont waste a dime on Rex and Sanchez you can have them.Trade them quick before you lose your fans................
  • I really don't think the punter could beat the Pittsburgh Steelers in the postseason, passing for 300+ yards and 4 TDs. How about play the guy?
  • Tim Tebows needs to move on and get away from Rex Ryan.
Fine another teem that can better him as a quarterback
  • Hekker also had less interceptions than Sanchez. Why didn't the writer talk about that?
  • I stake my rep on Tebow... the 1st coach to develop that awesome potential will be far richer... too bad EGO's keep gettin in the way.
  • Whoever wrote this article - you are such a D-bag. Punter throws for more yards than Tebow, 'whoeeee, so funny, Tebow sucks, pathetic etc. etc." You're a dou-he. We are all seriously a lot dumber for having read your article, and you're the first blog that I decided to waste 30 seconds of my life to sign up feeling compelled to comment on this dumbass blog.
