According to multiple reports former Houston Cougar, Oakland Raider and Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Stanford Routt is scheduled to workout for the Houston Texans on Tuesday.   Texans are working out former Oakland and KC CC Stanford Routt on Tuesday. — John McClain (@McClain_on_NFL) December 4, 2012   With starting nickel cornerback Brice McCain out six weeks with a broke foot that required surgery, the Texans are on the market to add secondary depth. The Texans are currently with three healthy cornerbacks in Kareem Jackson, Roc Carmichael and Brandon Harris, while Johnathan Joseph (groin) and Alan Ball (foot) are nursing injuries. Routt was cut on November 9th by the Kansas City Chiefs after signing with them this past off-season after signing a deal that gave him a $4.2 million signing bonus. A starter in Oakland for two seasons, Routt was having a tough time getting to know the Chiefs defense. He is 6-1 and 195 lbs. and has been in the NFL since 2005 when he was drafted by the Oakland Raiders in the second round (38th overall) in the 2005 NFL draft. Routt has 258 career tackles with 12 interceptions and 54 pass deflections in 117 games with the Raiders and Chiefs. He is a native of Austin, Texas.

Steelers To Work Out Free Agent CB Stanford Routt

Maybe the fibula injury suffered by cornerback Ike Taylor Sunday in the win over the Baltimore Ravens will keep out a very extended time after all as John McClain from the Houston Chronicle is reporting via Twitter that free agent cornerback Stanford Routt will work out for the Pittsburgh Steelers today. Routt, who was released by the Kansas City Chiefs earlier this season, will...

Friend: Chiefs LB 'seemed fine'

Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher and his girlfriend briefly lived apart before he killed her and then committed suicide in front of his coach and general manager, a friend of the woman said Sunday. But Brianne York, 21, said that Belcher and his girlfriend, 22-year-old Kasandra M. Perkins, had gotten back together by Thanksgiving. When she learned Saturday that Belcher had fatally...

Heavy-hearted Chiefs play well, beat Panthers

KANSAS CITY, Mo. At some point, they had to return to football. They had to think about football. The Chiefs knew that. This is their job, their passion, their obligation. The nightmarish events of the previous 24 hours when teammate Jovan Belcher murdered his girlfriend, then took his own life had to be stored away, and the focus had to return. Football is simply a game, but...

Gun not at fault for Belcher's acts

The burning embers of the Twin Towers had a way of being invoked when a particularly dicey part of the Patriot Act needed selling 11 years ago. This was the smart play. Watering down constitutional rights is not easily undertaken. So scaring Americans and then using that fear to explain why this egregious assault on their rights is for their own good is genius. This is exactly why...
