On Monday, the Steelers world was moved to find out that Sharon Ilkin, wife of former Steelers offensive tackle Tunch Ilkin, had lost her battle with breast cancer at 55. Friday evening Jason La Canfora reported that the Pittsburgh Steelers do not intended to bring back veteran wide receiver Hines Ward for the 2012 season, but Scott Brown from the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports via Twitter today that Ward's representatives have yet to hear from Steelers. Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward jumped on his Facebook page to tell fans that he’s willing to restructure his $4 million contract in order to remain with the team.
It was a last ditch effort to save his job.
Ward’s Facebook post is in response to an NFL Network report that the Steelers are planning to cut the 14-year NFL veteran in an effort to get under the salary cap.
