Start Cam?

Coach Rivera has stated Cam Newton is the starter for the all important dress rehearsal that is the third preseason game. Newton is expected to play three quarters. Taking this into account, its hard to imagine a situation in which Cam is not the opening day starter. After all, Jimmy Clausen is also in a new offensive scheme and needs the reps as much as Newton. Giving Jimmy only one quarter in the only game planned preseason game essentially is telling us he is second string. This is a controversial move considering Clausen has looked arguably more capable than Newton thus far in 2011.  At the very least, its a close call. I am fine with the move, I believe Cam will be the first game changing franchise quarterback in Panthers history. My only concern is if it is too much too soon for Cam. The Panthers will struggle for most of this season, possibly not beginning to gel until December. With no offseason workouts and a reduced camp practice schedule, I am not sure more could be expec...
