After 8 games in the 2012 season here are our SteelBlitz Mid-Season Awards for the Pittsburgh Steelers
Team MVP – Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger
Roethlisberger isn’t only leading the Steelers offense he is getting better by the week. So far on the season Roethlisberger has thrown for over 2,200 yards and 16 touchdowns with only 4 interceptions. Ben currently holds a 101.1 quarterback rating. That would be the second best rating of his career. He is currently on pace to have the best year of his career surpassing the season he had in 2007, a season that ended in a Steelers championship
Offensive MVP – Tight End Heath Miller
This would be Ben Roethlisberger, but since he is the team MVP the offensive MVP will go to Heath Miller. Miller has become a force in the Todd Haley offense with 6 touchdowns at the half way point in the season. The most touchdown passes Miller has ever caught in a season is 7 in 2007 and he is bound to break that number far before the season ends. Miller is also...

Any NFL player or coach with any class at all is never going to call out his old team, no matter how bad things were when they left. Circumstances change from year to year and sometimes things just don’t work out; sometimes you leave on a good note and other times it’s a sour one. Jerome Bettis and Todd Haley are hardly the only two members of the Steelers to start with one team...
The Steelers will have a decision to make when 2nd round pick Marcus Gilbert is able to return from his ankle injury, but rookie Mike Adams isn’t making the decision for Mike Tomlin and Sean Kugler any easier..or is he? As Gerry Dulac points out, Gilbert’s injury could have been worse but was still bad enough: Gilbert sustained a nasty ankle injury in which the tendon that protects...
Pittsburgh Steelers running back Chris Rainey practiced fully for a second consecutive day on Friday after injuring his ribs Sunday in the win over the New York Giants.
Rainey, who said on Thursday that he cracked a rib when he was tackled during a third quarter kickoff return, talked to the media again on Friday to talk about how he feels currently.
"Taking it day by...
According to running back coach Kirby Wilson the Steelers starting running back will be Rashard Mendenhall when he is healthy. Mendenhall is not expected to play Monday night against the Chiefs, but could play the following week in the Steelers first match-up with the Baltimore Ravens.
Over the past two weeks the Steelers run game has emerged with a one hundred yard rusher in all...
Antonio Brown, Troy Polamalu, and Marcus Gilbert will all miss the Steelers Monday Night game against the Kansas City Chiefs, but there is some hope for week 11. Pittsburgh is hosting back-to-back games for the first time in the 2012 season in weeks 10 and 11 with both games being played at Heinz Field. Week 11 is an especially important game as the Steelers will host the Baltimore...
Pittsburgh Steelers running back Rashard Mendenhall is close to returning from the Achilles injury that he suffered back in Week 6 against the Tennessee Titans. Will he be ready for the game Monday night against the Kansas City Chiefs? It's hard to say this early on in the week, but when he is ready, he will be the starter, according to running backs coach Kirby Wilson.
Throughout most of the year, most fans and experts have almost written off the Steelers. With key injuries to Troy, Harrison and a banged up struggling run game, the Steelers were thought to be only a shade of their former selves after a bad loss to the Raiders early on this season. After 3 straight wins the Steelers have quietly improved to a 5-3 record. With Baltimore now...
During their week seven match up against the Bengals, the Pittsburgh Steelers led 24-17 late into the fourth quarter. As the team started a drive with seven and a half minutes left in the game they looked to milk the clock and possibly score more points. On second down, quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was sacked. With the team hoping to get in field goal range, and not wanting to...
The NFL has fined the Pittsburgh Steelers as well as receiver Emmanuel Sanders for Sanders faking an injury against the Bengals on October 21.
The league doled out a $15,000 fine for Sanders and a $35,000 fine for the Steelers organization.
Here is the league’s statement that was sent to the Steelers regarding the fines:
“Despite the account given by Sanders during our November...
Steelers running backs coach Kirby Wilson said once Rashard Mendenhall returns to full health, he’ll be the team’s starting running back.
“Rashard has always been our lead dog and our top runner. Rashard is the complete package — power, speed, explosiveness,” said Wilson, via Mark Kaboly of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. “He is the guy who can take a 10-yard run and...
Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin announced yesterday
that the team is expected to be without wide receiver Antonio Brown while
running back Jonathan Dwyer is expected to return from injury this weekend
against the Kansas City Chiefs. Tomlin added that safety Troy Polamalu could
return in two weeks when the Steelers take on the Baltimore Ravens, reports Ed Bouchette of the...
Do you see random sh$% while driving to work and think it needs to be seen by the masses? Does the guy who sits next to you at work look like a tool on a daily basis? Start Em’ QB - Ben Roethlisberger PIT, Carson Palmer OAK, & Tony Romo DAL
Looking at Roethlisberger’s remaining schedule you have to pretty much love all his matchups. I would be shocked to not see him with at least two touchdowns this week. Carson Palmer against the Ravens? Yes sir! With McFadden out you should see Palmer throw it upwards to 40 times this week with an...

Aaron Hernandez vs Buf
Hernandez returns from his ankle injury and with 2 more weeks to heal, he should be ready to roll. Speaking of rolling, the Pats are going to roll the Bills and Buffalo has allowed 100 yards or more in 3 out of the last 5 games, with 3 TDs allowed in those games.
Heath Miller vs KC
Miller is tied with Owen...
