The reeling Pittsburgh Steelers could get some familiar faces back on Sunday in Baltimore. Coach Mike Tomlin said Tuesday wide receiver Antonio Brown should play and he's ''encouraged'' by safety Troy Polamalu's progress from a right calf injury. The coach said there's also ''a chance'' starting quarterback Ben Roethlisberger's sprained right shoulder will be good to go, though backup Charlie Batch will work with the first team early in the week. The Steelers (6-5) have dropped two straight with Roethlisberger sidelined, including an eight-turnover debacle last Sunday in Cleveland. Polamalu has played just five quarters all season after injuring the calf in the opener at Denver and aggravating the injury against the Eagles on Oct. 7. Brown has missed the last three games after injuring his ankle in a victory over the New York Giants on Nov. 4.

Steelers Injury Report: Troy Polamalu & Antonio Brown Practice Fully

The Pittsburgh Steelers were back on the field Wednesday in preparation for their Sunday game in Baltimore against the Baltimore Ravens and the first injury report of the week is now out. Practicing fully on Wednesday were wide receiver Antonio Brown (ankle) and safety Troy Polamalu (calf). For Polamalu it was the first full practice for him since injuring his calf in the Week 4...

Mike Tomlin Says WR Mike Wallace Is Rightfully Frustrated

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin was asked during his Tuesday press conference to talk about the performance of wide receiver Mike Wallace on Sunday and if his role will change moving forward. "You know, Mike was frustrated on Sunday and rightfully so," said Tomlin. "He is not producing in the manner he would like to or we would like him to. It’s a function...

Tomlin in a No-Win Situation This Week

If Mike Tomlin were a Major League Baseball player he’d be in a slump of epic proportions. He’s not of course but his decision-making of late has been anything less than a home run let alone a base hit. From benching every running back that fumbled the football to his odd decisions to go for long field goals, call for fake field goals and go on fourth down at mid-field, Tomlin...

Perhaps Tomlin should just draw straws at Running Back this week

There were so many things that went wrong for the Steelers, in the week 12 loss to the Browns, not the least of which was the 6 fumbles (4 of them lost) by the running backs. No sense going back and reliving the 3 interceptions by Charlie Batch and the final fumble on the last drive of the game; but hey, who’s counting? For the last month or so Mike Tomlin has preached about going...

Steelers Injury Report: Door Open For Roethlisberger; Brown & Polamalu To Practice This Week

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin held is normal Tuesday press conference today and ran down the injury report for the upcoming week as the team gets ready to play the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday. Tomlin started off by saying that they have some guys that could possibly work themselves back this week. Wide receiver Jerricho Cotchery (ribs) ran on Monday, according to Tomlin...

Steelers’ Loss to Browns Doesn’t Mean This Is 2009 Redux

Let’s see, the Pittsburgh Steelers are without Ben Roethlisberger and Troy Polamalu. They showed some promise earlier this season with a four-game winning streak that got them to six wins. Then they lost two straight, including a defeat in Cleveland to a woeful Browns team. Now they’re 6-5 and losing their grip on a playoff berth. Sounds an awful lot like 2009, doesn’t it?...

Ben Roethlisberger Still Unlikely To Be Ready To Play Against Ravens

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said Tuesday during his press conference that quarterback Ben Roethlisberger threw on Monday and that the door was still open for him to play Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens. While that sounds like a very optimistic outlook, Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported via Twitter on Tuesday after Tomlin talked to the media that...

Steelers should be better prepared to face Ravens, in theory

Even with everything that went wrong in week 11 when the Ravens came into Heinz Field and took a close victory away with them, 13-10, the Steelers had a chance to win at the end. That was without guys like Ben Roethlisberger, Antonio Brown, Troy Polamalu, and others. This coming Sunday when the two rivals face off in Baltimore, the Steelers should be, in theory at least, better prepared...

Pittsburgh Steelers and the number 7

The number seven has much significance in the city of Pittsburgh. There are many connections, large and small, good and bad, obvious and not-so-obvious. Regardless of their nature, all these connections are pointed at the most important seven, Super Bowl Championship No. 7. Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger wears number seven. The team misses him, as they are win less since his injury...

Plaxico to make Steelers debut in 2012

Wide receiver Plaxico Burress is active and will play for the Pittsburgh Steelers, who will not have Antonio Brown when they face the Browns. Burress was re-signed earlier this week by the Steelers, who drafted him in 2000. Burress was needed because of injuries to Brown (ankle) and Jerricho Cotchery (ribs). Emmanuel Sanders will start for Brown, who was listed as questionable all...

Steelers Notebook:

A busy day for the Pittsburgh Steelers: Roethlisberger update, Wallace & Mendenhall on their demotions; Troy Polamalu back on the field.

Steelers' Dwyer named Sunday starter

Pittsburgh Steelers running back Jonathan Dwyer will start at the position Sunday in Baltimore, head coach Mike Tomlin announced. Tomlin cited consistency and health as reasons that he chose Dwyer. "He's been consistently the most productive guy," Tomlin told reporters. "I think we have a large enough body of work to be able to identify that at this point....

Steelers Offensive & Defensive Snap Counts: Week 12 Browns

Below are the initial week 12 offensive and defensive snap counts from the Pittsburgh Steelers 20-14 loss to the Cleveland Browns Sunday. Thanks to his two fumbles in the game Rashard Mendenhall only played 8 snaps in total, so basically you can say that he was benched. Isaac Redman saw only 5 snaps in the game and the same goes for him. Head coach Mike Tomlin obviously wanted...
