PITTSBURGH -- At some point, the Philadelphia Eagles' high-wire act to start the season was going to come crashing down. It was only fitting that it came at the hands of another comeback artist. Ben Roethlisberger engineered a game-winning drive that ended with Shaun Suisham's 34-yard field goal as time expired, and the Steelers edged the Eagles 16-14 Sunday at Heinz Field. "I don't know if it's a sickness or what it is, but you can't get that feeling doing too many other things," Suisham said. "It certainly is a thrill." The Eagles (3-2) had hoped that Michael Vick's 2-yard touchdown pass to Brent Celek with 6:38 left in the fourth quarter would be enough for their fourth comeback win of 2012. But Roethlisberger calmly directed a patient, clinical offense in the final minutes. The Steelers (2-2) relied on short passes, as well as several key runs by Rashard Mendenhall, to drive deep into Philadelphia territory. Rather than play fo...

Is Ben Roethlisberger’s Career Winding Down In Pittsburgh?

The Pittsburgh Steelers just got past the Philadelphia Eagles to get their second win on the season. Ben Roethlisberger didn't complete a touchdown pass in the game. How many times can you remember Roethlisberger playing the complete game without throwing a touchdown pass? The Steelers aren't playing the kind of football the people in Pittsburgh are used to seeing. Their...

All-time greatest Steelers QB debate: Ben or Bradshaw

A local sports station in Pittsburgh is conducting a “Diamond Anniversary” edition of the all-Steelers team. As with anything in football, the quarterback became the focal point. For this hypothetical the Steelers are in a pretty good place; choosing between a Hall of Fame quarterback with four Super Bowl rings and two Super Bowl MVP’s to his name, or choosing a future Hall...

Steelers offense can win without prolific passing game now too

So far this season, Ben Roethlisberger has been on a record pace. In the first 3 games he threw for 904 yds, 8 touchdowns and 1 interception. The upgraded offense installed by Todd Haley clearly works in favor of the strengths of Big Ben and over the course of the season is capable of producing offensive numbers we haven’t seen in Pittsburgh in, well, forever. Spreading the ball...

Willie Colon: Ben Roethlisberger thought the Eagles were going after his head

With the way the NFL protects quarterbacks these days, it would be extremely difficult to take a shot at an opposing passer’s head without being called for a personal foul and subsequently fined. Ben Roethlisberger apparently thought the Eagles were attempting it on Sunday, as evidenced by the play where he got in Philly defensive end Brandon Graham’s face after taking a shot...

Will Roethlisberger End Up Being Credited For A Touchdown Pass To Mendenhall?

The 13 yard touchdown that Pittsburgh Steelers running back Rashard Mendenhall scored in the win over the Philadelphia Eagles was officially scored as a run and not a pass from quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. The official scorer viewed the pass from Roethlisberger as being a lateral and I have had a few request to take a closer look at the play. Obviously this play could make the...

I wouldn’t mind if this happened during the Eagles-Steelers game (VIDEO)

Ben Roethlisberger getting sucked into the ground? I don’t mind. If it were to happen, the Eagles would of course wind up safely where Hines Ward lands in the clip. A girl can dream. Want more Philly Sports Muse? You can find me on Twitter at @sports_muse and on Facebook.

Big Ben pilots game-winning drive

Shaun Suisham hit a 34-yard field goal as time expired to lift the Pittsburgh Steelers to a 16-14 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. The Eagles (3-2) took the lead on a 2-yard touchdown pass from Michael Vick to Brent Celek with 6:33 remaining, but the Steelers responded by driving 64 yards, including a pair of key third-down conversions by quarterback Ben Roethlisberger...

Sloppy Steelers win penalty filled game 16-14

The Steelers won the 'Battle of Pennsylvania' over the Philadelphia Eagles today on a 34-yard Shaun Suisham field goal as time expired. The Steelers outplayed the Eagles for much of the game, but racked up 106 penalty yards during the game, including two personal foul calls on Ryan Clark and Ryan Mundy during a cruicial Eagles touchdown drive. Philadelphia took the lead...

Getting to Big Ben easier said than done...

It sounds so fundamental and elementary---get to the opposing QB before he can get to you... But with Big Ben Roethlisberger, it's easier said than done...                 Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is listed at 6-foot-5 and 241 pounds but appears to weigh more than 260. He probably is bigger than Eagles defensive...

Steelers hoping to slow record penalty pace

The Steelers are hoping the referees keep their flags tucked inside their pockets on Thursday night when Pittsburgh visits Tennessee. The Steelers (2-2) lead the NFL with 37 penalties for 346 yards through the first month of the season and are on pace to shatter team records in both categories. Coach Mike Tomlin says his team needs to be smarter and more disciplined, particularly...

Steelers-Titans Preview

The Pittsburgh Steelers are back at .500, but injuries on defense continue to be a concern even with a potentially favorable prime time matchup ahead. Trying to win two in a row for the first time this season, the banged-up Steelers look for a fourth consecutive victory over the struggling Tennessee Titans on Thursday night in Nashville. Coming off its bye week, Pittsburgh (2-2...

Turnover troubles seal Eagles’ fate against Steelers

Photo courtesy of the Philadelphia Eagles The Philadelphia Eagles were in a close game against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, a familiar scenario this 2012 season, but this time they couldn’t overcome the turnovers. The Birds fell to the Steelers 16-14 at Heinz Field, with Pittsburgh kicker Shaun Suisham sealing the team’s fate with a field goal as the clock struck zero....
