Steel City Blitz:
In our most recent podcast, The Blitz, one of the points brought up by site owner Marc was how the fans are likely not to be happy with the Steelers this weekend no matter what happens in the final game of the season against the Browns. Normally, and obviously, any win is a good thing in the NFL. Even when nothing is at stake, playoff wise, you want to win every game possible. Even if it’s just to finish off a sub par season on a high note, you take every win you can get. For fans though, this final game is likely to have a different feel than most weeks. Should the Steelers win in a blowout, fans will not be pleased because we will wonder where the offense was all year long. Why did they wait till now to put a team away, why were they finally able to do what we were looking forward to them doing all season long? Even if it is against the Browns, who are as beat up as the Steelers are, and having a worse season overall, it won’t make anyone feel any better. If the Steelers just bare...

The personnel side of changes will take care of themselves as the off-season begins about 4pm on Sunday for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Decisions of who will be cut and who will be scouted in the draft are already underway but there are two specific changes I’m looking forward to the Steelers making on the coaching staff.
The first thing that needs to be addressed is somewhat taking...
For the 12th year in a row the Steelers will send multiple players to represent the team in the annual Pro Bowl game. Now, multiple normally implies more than 2, at least in my mind but considering how this season as gone there really weren’t many deserving on the team unfortunately so we’ll take what we can get right? This is the fewest number the team has sent since 2000 when...
Ben Roethlisberger's passing rating and passing yards per game are up from his career average, while his completion rate is the same it's been over his eight year NFL career.
But Roethlisberger says its how he's played which has put the Pittsburgh Steelers (7-8) out of the playoffs.
"A lot of it just has to do with me not playing well enough down the stretch...
The Steelers are out of the playoffs, what motivation will they have to play the Browns this week?
Entering the last week of the season I'm sitting at 153-87. That's ok but not great. I'd like to be over 170 for the season, but it is what it is at this point. Let's finish strong.
With teams resting players and teams out, I'll also take a look at the...
Steelers NT Casey Hampton has been a staple of Pittsburgh’s defense for the past 12 seasons, but the 35-year-old is set to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season and there has been plenty of attention paid to the overall age of the team’s defense unit.
Hampton appears to be more than aware of the situation that he’ll be faced with in March, but believes...
Steelers' head coach Mike Tomlin said of his quarterback, "Guys like Ben [Roethlisberger], competitors, playing football is like breathing to them." And Tomlin's been faced with decisions over and...

It was almost a staple in Pittsburgh. Being down in the fourth quarter pushed the Steelers offense into overdrive, with Big Ben manufacturing late rallies to win close games.
This season, not so much, and QB Ben Roethlisberger can’t quite put his finger on it. He’s 2 for 7 in 8 games that were decided by 3 points.
"In the past, I've prided myself and our team in...
Armed with a promise from his beloved defensive coordinator that he wouldn't retire without first informing his players, Ryan Clark threatened to avoid Dick LeBeau.
''I didn't want to hear it, so I've told him, `If you try to leave, well, you didn't see me and tell me, so you can't,''' said Clark, the Steelers' free safety. ''...
The Pittsburgh Steelers placed three players on injured
reserve this week, including cornerback Ike Taylor, tight end Heath Miller and
running back Baron Batch, reports Darin Gantt of Pro Football Talk.
The Steelers did just that, placing cornerback Ike Taylor on
injured reserve, along with tight end Heath Miller and running back Baron
Taylor has missed the last three...
Pittsburgh Steelers defensive coordinator Dick LeBeau told his players that intends on returning for his 10th season with the franchise, via NFL.com.
“Let’s just say I really like Pittsburgh and I really like working for the Steelers,” LeBeau said. “Coach Tomlin will tell you if he wants me back or not. It will be up to Mike.”
Pittsburgh currently ranks No. 1 in total...
I didn’t quite know what to expect when I set about to talk to a Steelers blogger about the matchup this weekend between Thad Lewis’ Browns and the Pittsburgh Steelers. I ended up getting some really nice insight from a real pro who has vast knowledge of the league in general and the Steelers and AFC North in particular. He was quite objective as I think most at WFNY try to be...
Pittsburgh wide receiver Mike Wallace will miss Week 17 because of hip and hamstring injuries. SOURCE: Gerry Dulac, Pittsburgh Post-GazetteFantasy Spin:With Pittsburgh out of the playoff hunt, there is little reason to start him in the meaningless Week 17 game. Wallace will be a free agent this offseason and may have played his last game with the Steelers.
The Steelers today placed three players on injured reserve, ending their seasons with only their game against Cleveland at Heinz Field left to it: Ike Taylor, Heath Miller and Baron Batch.
Miller and Batch were injured in last Sunday's game and Taylor missed the past three games with a hairline fracture of his right ankle. Batch had surgery to repair a broken arm and Miller...
Heath Miller was voted team MVP and Mike Adams is the Steelers' Rookie of the Year, but the award that may signify a departure went to Casey Hampton, who won The Chief Award.
